Such an amazing tribute to a great K9 officer 💙

08/17/2026

Sending our condolences to Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department. We had the pleasure of working with Officer Dane and Officer Norris when Officer Norris needed TPLO surgery. He was a 100% good boy. We’ll see you at the rainbow bridge Officer Norris 🌈

BCSO Says Goodbye to K9 Norris

Buncombe County, NC (August 17, 2026) Our hearts are heavy today as we had to say goodbye to a member of our K9 team. Over the weekend, we learned K9 Norris, a nine-year-old German Shepherd, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lymphoma and had lost his ability to see. As a result, the difficult decision was made to euthanize K9 Norris to prevent any suffering.

K9 Norris was assigned to the IGRANT unit and worked with his Handler Deputy Dane Onderdonk. He was trained in narcotics detection, handler protection, and tracking. K9 Norris served the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office and the community of Buncombe with honor, playing a significant role in removing dangerous narcotics from our community.

🐾 July is National Lost Pet Prevention
Month!
Every year, thousands of beloved pets go missing-but many of those cases can be prevented with a few simple steps.
❤️ Help keep your furry family members safe by:
🐶 Ensuring they wear a collar with an up-to-date ID tag.
📍Keeping microchip registration current with your latest contact information.
🚪 Checking gates, fences, and doors for potential escape routes.
🎆 Taking extra precautions during fireworks, storms, and travel when pets are more likely to run away.
📸 Keeping recent photos of your pet in case you ever need them.

At VitaVet Nutrition Solutions, we believe keeping pets healthy goes beyond nutrition—it also means helping them stay safe, protected, and where they belong: at home with the families who love them.
