I’m a reluctant riser.
Mornings & me have not, historically, gotten along well.
One of the things that make getting up more bearable is my morning reiki practice.
After blindly slapping at my phone to hit snooze, i yawn and think “Reiki” to myself (Reiki energy works off of intention, once you are attuned to it, thinking or saying it’s name is all it take for the energy to start to flow - MAGIC! I know 🙃).
I place my hands over my eyes and face first - the energy warms and comforts me, and gently energizes my tired, crusty, morning eyes.
(Bonus:it blocks that pesky sunlight streaming in through my window trying to convince me to get up).
I’ll then gently cup my ears, which often helps relieve congestion. As someone prone to allergies and sinus infections, this is huge.
(Bonus: it helps block out the sound of my alarm before i hit snooze for the third or fourth time).
Then i’ll often move my hands to my stomach and lower abdomen to settle and/or energize my stomach and digestion.
(Bonus: this helps stave off the need to run to the toilet - yes the desire to remain horizontal sometimes trumps all other bodily needs).
Next I rest my hands on my heart - breathing long and deep and slow - remembering all the reasons why it’s good to be awake, alive, and aware in my body here and now. How all the things i love to do are up, and outside this room.
(Like coffee, rich, sweet, creamy coffee - it’s in the kitchen…downstairs…)
I then roll over on my side and put one hand on the base of my spine, and the other cups the base of my skull or the back of my neck - warming & energizing the length of my spine and giving that last little push to rise & shine.
(Or, you know, roll out of bed and finally stumble into the bathroom to do all the morning things like relieve my screaming bladder, showering, and brushing my teeth).
And just like that, we’re on our way to a new day.
Reiki knows and Reiki flows with ease in all you do - once you get used to calling it in.
It can be used in the middle of routines you already have:
To help ease your way.
To help ease your day.
To make your day to day full of more comfort & play.
(And humor. Did I mention humor?)
