Join us for our next in-person Family Constellations circle.
This approach can be especially helpful if you:

- Feel stuck in repetitive patterns you can’t seem to shift.
- Sense an invisible block holding you back from moving forward in life.
- Struggle with emotional heaviness, anxiety, or unresolved grief.
- Notice recurring relationship challenges and want to understand their root cause (this can also apply to business, health, and other areas of life).
- Have tried to analyze or work through issues but haven’t seen meaningful progress.
- Experience persistent physical symptoms or health patterns that feel difficult to explain or heal.
- Feel disconnected, isolated, or cut off from a sense of belonging.
Family Constellations allow to uncover the hidden dynamics we unconsciously carry that shape our lives, using a visual and spatial representation of relationships and patterns. It allows for a shift in what may be negatively affecting us and opens space for healing and transformation.

You can participate as a focus client - bringing a personal issue to address, or as a representative and observer - supporting the constellation process and holding space.

Because we are all connected through resonance, representatives often gain profound insights themselves by noticing what touches them in others’ stories.

For more information and to register, please follow the link https://tinyurl.com/4j49mvua
or call The Teal Center at 703.522.7637

General Participation: $40
Focus Client: $195
New participants are welcome!
Snacks, tea, and coffee will be provided. We’ll have a 40-minute lunch break, so please bring your own lunch or purchase something from one of the nearby restaurants or cafes.

What's My Place in the Family?

We all carry an inner image of our family, often without realizing it. Sometimes changing how this image is organized in space changes how we feel inside.

In family constellations, we often speak about order in a family system — not as a hierarchy of importance, but as order of arrival and belonging:
Parents come before children.
Older siblings come before younger ones.
Everyone belongs and has a place.

When this inner order feels unclear, we may experience tension without knowing why — feeling overly responsible, not fully supported, or somehow not standing in our own place.

From time to time, I receive messages asking whether Family Constellations can help clear ancestral trauma or heal the lineage.

In systemic work, this idea actually goes against one of the core principles — the law of hierarchy. We are small in relation to those we come from. Our parents and ancestors are the "big ones." Attempting to heal or clear them is, in a way, an attempt to reverse the river — to push water back upstream in the River of Life. It is neither possible nor necessary (and deeply exhausting, so if you feel exhausted for no obvious reason, maybe this is what you are doing — subconsciously "reversing the river").

Every family history includes hardship and trauma. The real question is not what needs to be healed in the lineage, but whether you experience difficulties or limitations in your life today. That is where a constellation can begin. Any inquiry can be explored: relationships (with yourself, others, or the world), emotional patterns, symptoms, finances, or recurring life situations.

Family Constellations do not erase the past. What happened did happen. Instead, the work helps us step out of subconscious dynamics we may still carry out of love and loyalty to our family system, and change how we relate to them now. Not everything from the past reaches us. Some dynamics do, some do not, and some even become sources of strength. After all, many endured before us so that we could be here.

And so the work is not about changing the past, but about freeing our own movement in the present.

Continuing to share impressions from the NASC Conference.
Yulia Kriskovets, a fellow facilitator from Maryland, presented constellation work with inner parts. The workshop felt deep, practical, clear, and grounded — just like Yulia's presence.
She introduced the idea of inner parts from the IFS approach:

- Exiles: wounded parts holding pain, shame, or fear
- Protectors: parts working hard to keep us safe and prevent that pain from surfacing

Since every part carries a positive intention, meeting them with kind attention allows connection with the Self — a regulated, compassionate, calm state.

In one exercise, we worked with a part we dislike in ourselves. I chose what seemed "simple": hyper-responsibility — something I know well and don't necessarily want to eliminate, only regulate better.

Within minutes, I began confusing my feelings with others' feelings (represented by the objects), fully convinced they were mine. The confusion even continued after the exercise — I accidentally took someone else's identical water bottle. The situation filled me with guilt and disorientation… but also brought striking clarity.

I could suddenly see how easily I "take on" what isn't mine and try to find place for it (i.e. "fix it"), believing it belongs to me, and then blame myself for doing something wrong.

How many of us move along trajectories that were never truly ours, shaped long ago, trying endlessly to "solve" them?
What a relief it is to see the limits of our own responsibilities. Carrying responsibility for another person's fate, ideas, or feelings — is an impossible task. With our own, however, we can actually do something. In service of our life.

💬 Does this resonate? What have you been carrying that isn't yours?

When speaking about needs, having personal boundaries, or expressing anger was not allowed in childhood, separation often begins much later in life—if it begins at all.
Then bitterness and anger can feel like a long-awaited permission: "now I finally can!" For a while, it may even feel empowering.

But over time, anger can become the "righteous" response to nearly every painful inner reaction to external triggers.
Yet anger, important as it is, is not the same as moving forward or reclaiming one's voice. Over time, it can push others away while keeping us entangled with something much older than the present moment—repeating the inner cycle that leaves us feeling lonely, just as it felt in childhood.

When the intensity of anger does not match the situation, we are often responding to something larger. For a child, what is larger than life are the parents—and through our reactions to others, we are often trying, in a way, to push them away.

Sometimes it seems that when anger remains toward the mother, life itself feels difficult to accept. This also shows in how we connect or disconnect from people around us. And when anger remains toward the father, our path forward becomes harder to trust.

Separation does not happen by idealizing or blaming the mother. It happens when our attention is no longer fixed on changing, rescuing, judging her, or looking for her approval. We begin to see a simpler truth: through her, life came to us, and yet she has her own fate. From there, our own life gradually becomes more available—separate, yet connected.

This inner shift is usually accompanied by a quieter inner state, and a growing agreement with reality.

As Bert Hellinger said: "And then it becomes light."
I wish all of us the chance to hear this inner quiet within ourselves.

💬 Does this resonate? I'd love to hear your thoughts below.

At the NASC Conference, one of particularly meaningful parts for me was meeting Tanja Meyburgh in person - a renowned Family and Systems Constellations trainer and supervisor, I had previously only worked with online. She traveled all the way from South Africa.

Tanja invited us to take a closer look at the power of fire, a force that can burn and destroy, but that can also bring people together, offering light and warmth.

The process she offered, Dancing with the Ancestors, felt to me like kindling this fire within ourselves, allowing the old to burn through so that something new could emerge from it.

At one point, it became tangible that life is not a series of separate events, but a continuous experience, and we are the ones responding, either "freezing" or moving through it in our own way and at our own pace.

It also became a reminder that those who stand behind each of us - our ancestors - have moved through all kinds of turbulence and disruption, both great and small, many times before us.

Through their inner strength and their ability to adapt and keep moving forward, life was able to reach us.

When we acknowledge this strength as our own, we can lean on it.
And keep moving forward...

Only now have I found the time to write about the North American Systemic Constellations (NASC) conference. It feels as though the conference itself was a journey made up of many journeys...
The theme "One Circle: From Separation to Wholeness" created a movement that felt very different from what we have been witnessing in the world over the past several years, and what has been deeply impacting us.

This movement was supported both through large collective processes and through individual ones, making it clear once again, how giving space to the feelings and emotionswe try so hard to avoid actually leads us into a deeper connection with life.

I felt so nourished by shared experience, learning, insights, healing, and connection, that it seems I needed an extra day to fully "arrive" back home internally.

My flight was first delayed due to weather conditions and then eventually canceled because of a bomb threat at the airport. Of course, there was no bomb. But I was given an additional day to transition from the "larger fields" back into "real life"...
I will keep sharing, little by little, what stayed with me the most…
