Metropolitan Home Health Services, Inc.

Metropolitan Home Health Services, Inc. Metropolitan Home Health Services, Inc. is a family-owned, private in-home health care agency.

Since 1988, the Arpiarian sisters — the family behind Metropolitan Home Health Services, Inc. (MHHS) — have provided care for the elderly and disabled throughout eastern Massachusetts, earning a reputation for excellent service, honesty, and dependability. The idea of forming a home health care agency came when the sisters (two are RN’s) were caring for their grandmother in 1985. “This type of car

e was just getting started back then and it was a profound experience for our whole family, but for our grandmother we needed 24 hour round the clock care”, said Yvonne Arpiarian RN, Director of MHHS. With the idea that there were most likely many more patients and families that needed help, Metropolitan was born. Today our agency serves more than 30 communities and provides an array of services including nursing, certified home health aides, companions, homemaking and 24-hour respite care.

What a fantastic day at the Mystic Valley Elder Services Legacy50 Summit!

We loved reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new friends, and connecting with fellow sponsors, exhibitors, and community partners.

The energy in the room was incredible, and it was wonderful to see so many people come together in support of older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers.

Thank you to Mystic Valley Elder Services for including us in this special celebration and congratulations on 50 years of helping individuals live with independence and dignity.

We were honored to be part of it!

A heartfelt thank you to SCES for hosting such a meaningful event, dedicated to supporting the health, wellness, and connection of our Somerville and Cambridge community members.

Grateful to attend Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services 2026 Legislative Breakfast—thank you for bringing everyone together for such an important conversation.

I especially want to thank all of the speakers who helped shine a light on the real, everyday needs of older adults—whether it’s home health care, nutrition, housing, or caregiving support. These challenges are real and felt by individuals and families every single day, shaping whether someone can stay safe, independent, and in their own home.

With this year’s and next year’s FY budgets ahead of us, and the uncertainty around potential federal Medicaid cuts, it’s critical that we keep older adults front and center. We need to continue protecting—and building on—the investments that make it possible for people to remain at home.

One point that really stuck with me is that every part of the care system matters. But when home-based supports aren’t available, people can end up needing more intensive care sooner than they otherwise would. Making sure those home and community-based services are there isn’t just better for individuals—it also helps us be more thoughtful about how we use resources across the Commonwealth.

It was also great to celebrate the incredible career of Senator Pat Jehlen who is retiring from the Senate. Her commitment to supporting older adults has made a lasting difference, and it was wonderful to see her work recognized.

Thank you again to Marta R. Corvelo, the staff at SCES and everyone who participated. Looking forward to continuing this work together.
