✨PLANTS FOR BEGINNERS✨

🌱IVY: The plant that made me OBSESSED with plants. She is fast growing & loves to trail. Perfect for hanging baskets or window sills!

🪴POTHOS: The DRAMATIC plant. Full of drama. If you forget to water it she will let you know!! Do not get sad if she gets droopy, give it. drink & move on with the day.

🍃MONSTERA: ⚠️WARNING: IT GETS BIG⚠️ Bright indirect light & lots of room to grow is all she needs. Pro tip: Do not keep rotating her, the stems will get lengthy.

🌵ZZ PLANT: Very low maintenance. She doesn’t need a ton of water & enjoys lower light.

🐍SNAKE PLANT: Loves neglect. Nothing more. Too low of light? Okay. Forget to water? She’ll be fine. This is my #1 RECOMMENDED FOR BEGINNGER PLANT PARENTS.

Decorative pots are awesome for style but can make the plants care a bit more difficult down the road!

🪴Decorative pots are usually ceramic, cement or glass. When trying to repot, a plastic nursery pot has much more flexibility to it, allowing you to squeeze & loosen the roots & soil.

🪴 Nursery pots are designed with multiple drainage holes that allow excess water to escape. Decorative pots often have no drainage holes or very little, causing water to collect at the bottom.

🪴 Easier to water properly. A lot of nursery pots are clear so you can see the water through the sides & know when you’ve given it the right amount of water. And again, because you can easily squeeze the pot to loosen the roots you can also slowly & carefully lift the plant from the pot, water it, then place it back in its pot.

🌵PRO TIP:
Place you nursery pot inside of a decorative pot!

When it comes to plants, sometimes loving them too much results in murder🔪.

Each plant is very particular about how much water they need. Some prefer to always be moist, but not soggy. While others prefer to dry out first! Make sure when taking in a new plant you read the care tag or do some research on how much water it needs & how often💧.

Often times drooping, mushy stem & yellow leaves are all signs of your plant being overwatered.

Make sure to place your pots in a clear plastic nursery pot so you can see exactly how much water is in there when watering & to see when it is all completely dry!😄

Moving Moving Moving🌱 Can you guess where?🤪

Moving plants is one of those things that sounds easy until you’re juggling soil spills, temperature shock, and broken leaves 😅 But with some prep it can actually be really simple!

🌱PREP A FEW DAYS EARLY
Do not water. Slightly drier soil = lighter pots & less mess.

💧 FOR YOUR PROPAGATIONS
Dump out the water from the vessel & wrap the roots in a damp paper towel. Put back in the vessel or place in a zip lock bag to keep humidity.

📦 PROTECT YOUR LEAVES
You can gently wrap them in pillow cases, tissue paper, bubble wrap to prevent snapping of the leaves.
OR
Place in a box that is tall enough to to protect from things pushing up against them.

Smaller/Short Plants = Smaller Box
Bigger/Taller Plants = Bigger Box.

🪴STABILIZE THE POTS
Surround with extra blankets, tissue paper or towels to keep the pots from hitting each other during travel. AND do not stack!

🚘 BE SMART WHEN TRANSPORTING
Try to put your plants in the car, not the moving truck. Darkness = change of environment = causes stress.
Avoid blasting the AC or heat.

🏠WHEN YOU ARRIVE
Remove them from the packaging and place them in a similar area as before- same lighting, humidity, etc.
Wait atleast 3 days before fertilizing/repotting so they can adjust to their new environment.
