As the hip decays it can begin to mimic low back pain and even anterior
quadricep pain. One thing that we definitely want to rule out is an anatomic
leg length inequality (LLI), which can be done with a full spine AP xray. With an
AP Full Spine film we'll also be able to see the hips and do our leg length
analysis as well. If no major decay is found in the hip but a significant
anatomic LLI is found then addressing the LLI with a simple set of orthotics
and specific heel lift to address the leg length issue may be all it takes to
clear up the hip and/or low back pain.
