Here's how (and why) I enjoy moving my body as someone who isn't actively trying to lose weight but wants to live a healthy life 👇🏻

☀️ Running at my local park

I used to always say that I hate running, but I actually started running about a year ago. I took it slow and really eased myself into it. Now it's one of my favorite things!

I've found that I'm more of a run slower to go further kinda of runner, rather than a speedy, trying to break times runner. Because of this, I just started training for my first 10k! No time goals, just enjoying running for longer distances at a time.

☀️ Walking my dogs

I love my dogs and I love taking them on walks. It's an excuse to get outside and they sure do they enjoy it. Bonus, I get to spend time with my husband too!

We are actually easing them into a bit of running! We have 2 goldens, one is 5 and the other is 7. Definitely not old, but also not young. Gotta be careful with those joints! So far, they seem to LOVE it.

☀️ Mountain biking my local trails

This is my newest form of joyful movement. I picked it up end of last year. I definitely have a lot of learning and conditioning to do, but I find it soooo fun. I love the challenge of pedaling uphill then being rewarded with a speedy downhill.

Bonus, I get to spend time with my dad! He's been biking for almost 30 years. We love to hit the trails together!

☀️ Climbing at my local plastic crag

This is the one that probably brings me the most joy! I love the challenge. I love the feeling of working on a project, piecing it together, then giving it a clean send. It's like a puzzle. Plus, the climbing community is top notch and gyms are air conditioned!

I also really enjoy outdoor climbing. I just don't get to do it as often, since it's not as accessible as local gyms.

☀️ Hiking literally everywhere I can

I grew up in the mountains of NC and boy do I love the Appalachians! I also have the privilege of regularly traveling west and enjoying that scenery as well. I personally think the best way to explore an area is to hike the trails. So that's where you will find me!

Okay okay, enough about me! How do you enjoy moving?! 🙌🏻

Eeekk my favorite season is just around the corner! ☀️

Here's what you need for an anti-diet summer 👇🏻

☀️ snacks that don’t need to be earned
☀️ a swimsuit you actually like
☀️ permission to rest
☀️ a camera roll that includes you
☀️ movement that actually feels good
☀️ sunscreen instead of body criticism
☀️ clothes that fit your now body
☀️ nourishment instead of restriction
☀️ reminders that stretch marks & cellulite are normal

Your summer body is just your body, existing in the summer.

You don’t have to spend the season trying to fix, shrink, hide, punish, or earn your way into comfort.

You’re allowed to eat the snacks. Wear the suit. Take the photo. Rest when you need to. Move in ways you enjoy. Buy clothes that fit. Feed yourself enough. Care for your skin. Exist in your body without constantly critiquing it.

That’s the only type of summer I'm interested in!

Let’s talk about the 1200 calorie myth 👇🏻

1200 calories a day is the average recommended intake for a toddler. Not a full-grown adult.

Consistently eating too little can slow your metabolism, increase stress hormones, mess with your mood and concentration, and lead to intense food cravings and binge Cycles. And so much more!

Your body deserves nourishment, not restriction.

You are not “failing” if you can’t stick to 1200 calories. 1200 calories is failing you.

Leave it to nature to really put things into perspective.

If we take a minute to zoom out and stop worrying about every little detail, it's crazy how quickly things start to feel smaller.

That's one of my favorite things about nature. It puts you in your place and makes you feel tiny, but in the best way possible.
