When repetitive strain injury pain flares up, the instinct is typically to either push through and do everything as usual OR to baby it and refuse to use that area until it feels better, but neither of those things are doing you any favors.

The better option is usually somewhere in between. Gentle, but intentional movement, modifying triggering activities, and getting support BEFORE it becomes unbearable.

If you’re dealing with a flare up right now, don’t wait it out. Go to the link in my bio to book your treatment.

Nic is my spouse ❤️ and a talented tattoo artist. Leaning over clients all day inevitably builds tension in the upper back. So when it flared up, they did what most people would — stretched it out. It felt great in the moment, but the next morning, they reached down to put on their shoes and pulled the muscle.

You probably know that feeling, that fear. The panic of deciding what to do next.
“Should I go to work like this?”
“CAN I go to work like this?”
“What if my clients can’t reschedule?”
“What if they get mad at me for cancelling?”
“It’s too late notice to cancel.”
“But how am I going to get through the day?”
“…but I have that bill coming up.”
“Will I have enough in my account if I don’t make money today?”
“What am I going to do?!?”

But what if you knew what to do to intervene BEFORE that spiral even start? What if you could prevent those flares up from getting in the way of your work and your life?

The next time it flared up, Nic came to me instead, and we did the opposite of what they’d tried on their own.

The next time your RSI flares up, don’t waste time or risk injury guessing what to do next — let’s figure out what your body actually needs. Link in bio 🤍

Sometimes imposter syndrome creeps in… and then I remember that I did this.

Reviews like this mean everything to me. Not just because it’s kind, but because it’s exactly the kind of transformation I got into this work to create. Chronic tech neck, real relief, and tools to actually keep it from coming back. That’s the whole point.

If you’re dealing with work-related pain and discomfort that keeping coming back and are ready for relief that actually lasts, I’d love to help.

If you often find yourself coming back to work after a few days off thinking, “I rested all weekend, I should feel better today”… but you never really do, you’re not crazy.

Rest can be helpful for normal soreness, but RSI isn’t caused by one moment of overload. It’s built up over time by the same motion, repeated over and over, without any meaningful recovery in between. A weekend off doesn’t touch that pattern and you jump right back into it the minute you get back to work.

If this cycle sounds familiar, it’s probably time for more than just rest.

Be honest… how many of these hit a little too close to home?

If you’re pushing through pain because you can’t afford to stop working, or telling yourself this is the cost of having the career you love, I’m here to tell you that there’s a better way. Your pain and discomfort is not a badge of honor. It’s a habit that you can break.

Book before it gets worse, not after it’s too late.

✨LOCAL SPOTLIGHT✨

The People’s Yoga is an east Portland staple for a reason! Offering affordable classes, a wide range of styles, community events, and a welcoming space that’s open to everyone.

My spouse and I went to a class at their SE location within a few days of moving to Portland and have been members ever since. There truly is something for everyone here and the teachers never disappoint. Whether you’re new to yoga or an experienced yogi, there’s a class for you at The People’s Yoga.

If there’s one thing that I stand by, it’s that our health and wellness function at their best with holistic care. With years of massage therapy under my belt, I can tell you with certainty that the clients who have the best and longest lasting results are the ones who seek out other health care practitioners and movement practices in addition to massage.

Having a yoga practice in particular can be incredibly helpful in reaching your recovery and movement goals. There are so many ways to modify and ways to practice to fit your needs, all while improving strength, flexibility, and the mind body connection.

My local spotlight series is designed to make it easy for you find other great providers and businesses to help complement the work we do on the table.

Total avoidance often just delays the problem. You lose strength and mobility in the area, and it comes back angrier when you finally do move it again. Real recovery usually means working with the area that hurts, not just around it — modified movement, not avoidance.

If you want long-term results, you have to be willing to take on long-term commitments. Creating routines around the tools and modalities that support your body for the long haul are always going to be a better investment than something that masks your pain just to get you through the day.

Pain doesn’t always mean that something’s damaged. Sometimes it’s tension, overuse, or a pattern that needs attention. Not every ache is an injury, and treating them the same way could be what’s keeping you from the recovery you need.
