✨ Our Quarterly Deep Dive was one for the books! ✨

Last night, we had the privilege of welcoming Libby Hinsley, PT, a hypermobility expert, to Asheville Pelvic Health for an evening of learning, curiosity, and collaboration.

Hypermobility is something we see frequently in pelvic health because the two often go hand in hand. While we’ve long recognized that the pelvic floor often compensates to create stability, Libby helped us understand that hypermobility is so much more than just being “bendy.”

There is an entire spectrum, and learning how hypermobility is diagnosed and presents in different people helped explain why one patient may only have a few hypermobile joints while another experiences symptoms throughout their entire body.

We also explored the connections between hypermobility, POTS, anxiety, dizziness, heat intolerance, MCAS, and nervous system regulation. These conditions are often underdiagnosed, leaving many people feeling unheard or wondering if their symptoms are “all in their head.”

The exciting part? There is so much we can do to help. Through progressive loading, cardiovascular exercise, sensory and proprioceptive retraining, fascial work, manual therapy, and nervous system regulation, physical therapy can make a meaningful difference.

We also left with new assessment tools, creative treatment ideas (we’re already loving the Bendy Braid! 🤩), and new connections with providers in our community. We truly believe the best care happens when healthcare professionals work together.

If you’ve ever wondered whether all of your symptoms might be connected, you’re not alone. There is hope, there are answers, and we’re here to help.

A huge thank you to Libby Hinsley for such an informative and practice-changing evening! 💙

A huge thank you to Dr. John Whitfield, colore**al surgeon, for joining our team tonight for our quarterly deep dive - this time on all things colore**al health! 🧠✨ From hemorrhoids and fissures to f***l incontinence, re**al prolapse, and colore**al cancers—we covered the full spectrum of conditions that so many people quietly struggle with.

Opportunities like this allow us to better understand both medical and surgical management options, so we can guide our patients with more clarity, confidence, and truly collaborative care 🩺

What stood out most? His ability to bring both expertise and humanity to a field that can feel heavy—along with a steady stream of well-timed dad jokes 😄 (“you’re letting the re**al guy out the back door?!” As he was leaving did not disappoint).

At Asheville Pelvic Health, we treat a wide range of bowel and pelvic health conditions—including constipation, f***l leakage, pain with bowel movements, and postpartum or surgical recovery. Having strong relationships with specialists like Dr. Whitfield helps us ensure our patients are supported every step of the way 💙

Here’s to continued learning, better outcomes, and taking the stigma out of conversations around bowel health 🌿 💩
