✨ Our Quarterly Deep Dive was one for the books! ✨
Last night, we had the privilege of welcoming Libby Hinsley, PT, a hypermobility expert, to Asheville Pelvic Health for an evening of learning, curiosity, and collaboration.
Hypermobility is something we see frequently in pelvic health because the two often go hand in hand. While we’ve long recognized that the pelvic floor often compensates to create stability, Libby helped us understand that hypermobility is so much more than just being “bendy.”
There is an entire spectrum, and learning how hypermobility is diagnosed and presents in different people helped explain why one patient may only have a few hypermobile joints while another experiences symptoms throughout their entire body.
We also explored the connections between hypermobility, POTS, anxiety, dizziness, heat intolerance, MCAS, and nervous system regulation. These conditions are often underdiagnosed, leaving many people feeling unheard or wondering if their symptoms are “all in their head.”
The exciting part? There is so much we can do to help. Through progressive loading, cardiovascular exercise, sensory and proprioceptive retraining, fascial work, manual therapy, and nervous system regulation, physical therapy can make a meaningful difference.
We also left with new assessment tools, creative treatment ideas (we’re already loving the Bendy Braid! 🤩), and new connections with providers in our community. We truly believe the best care happens when healthcare professionals work together.
If you’ve ever wondered whether all of your symptoms might be connected, you’re not alone. There is hope, there are answers, and we’re here to help.
A huge thank you to Libby Hinsley for such an informative and practice-changing evening! 💙
