What actually makes your period start?
When pregnancy doesn’t occur, progesterone and estrogen drop, menstruation begins, and day one starts again. Typically, menstruation happens around days 1 to 5, the follicular phase runs through about day 13, ovulation is around day 14, and the luteal phase is usually days 15 to 28.
