The Well: School of Body Literacy

The Well: School of Body Literacy We offer workshops, consultations, classes and a teacher training program in Women's Sexual Health and the Fertility Awareness Method. Simply said, FAM works.

We promote Body Literacy and Health Sovereignty by offering sexual/hormonal health curriculum and consultations based on practical yet powerful self-care and connection skills within a functional medicine model of care. Grace of the Moon provides Fertility Awareness and Holistic Hormonal Health Education to empower relationships and sexuality; giving women true reproductive freedom. Fertility Awar

eness is the education of being in a woman's body. It is a magnificent tool for loving and respecting our fertile, dynamic selves; a blueprint for following and riding the fertile waves we experience throughout our reproductive years. FAM is a curriculum that informs women what hormones are activating the various parts of their cycles and the benefits, challenges, signs and signals these hormones offer us. The Fertility Awareness Method proposes a charting practice that will guide a woman in a self-empowered practice that can be utilized for natural birth control, conscious conception and hormonal/fertility healing and optimization. FAM is NOT the rhythm method, but a highly evolved and researched form of family planning that is the birthrite of every woman, yet sorely missing from our educational system. FAM has been found to be as effective as the birth control pill when used correctly. I am incredibly honored to share this valuable wisdom in the world. It has been an immense gift to me and for this I give thanks. I work with women looking for natural, hormone free birth control, women trying to conceive, women with fertility challenges and hormonal imbalances and women doing in-home inseminations. I also believe FAM to be a basic health education tool and feel that every young woman should receive this information when coming into womanhood. About Sarah: Sarah Bly is a Certified Fertility Awareness Educator (FAE), a holistic hormonal health educator and a Midwife. She has taught the Fertility Awareness Method as well as sacred sexuality classes to many women (and men) over the last decade and has practiced the FAM herself for 20 years. She feels it is time to break down the myths surrounding this element of women's wisdom, which is an extremely effective and empowering practice. Sarah is also a mother, a dancer, a nature lover and a beekeeper.

Meet our lovely Sarah Bly!

Sarah is the founder of The Well School of Body Literacy, an educator, mentor, former homebirth midwife, and the heart behind this work.

For over 20 years, she has taught cycle charting and reproductive health education with a focus on helping people truly understand what their bodies are communicating, not just follow rules or methods. Her work blends science, lived experience, and a deep trust in the body’s natural rhythms. Many students come to her work through curiosity and stay because of how grounded, clear, and relational the learning experience feels.

Outside of teaching and mentoring students, Sarah spends time on the land she stewards in Southern Oregon and continues to gather community through retreats, trainings, and shared learning spaces.

We’re grateful for the steadiness, care, and clarity she brings to this work, and for the many ways her teaching continues to ripple outward. 🙏

Whether you're already supporting clients as a birthworker, healthcare practitioner, coach, educator, or are considering a new direction altogether, our programs are designed to help you build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to bring this work into your community.

We're also excited to share that the Association of Fertility Awareness Professionals (AFAP) is once again offering a scholarship opportunity for students enrolled in accredited training programs. As application season begins, we thought we'd share a few words from those who have walked this path before. Choosing a training program is a big decision, and while we can talk about curriculum, mentorship, and course structure, we believe the experiences of past students often speak for themselves.

Each of these reflections comes from a graduate who completed one of The Well's certification programs and went on to bring body literacy, fertility awareness, and reproductive health education into their own communities. If you've been curious about the Teacher Training Program or Advanced Practitioner Program, we hope these perspectives offer a glimpse into what the journey can look like.

Applications for our 2027 programs are now open. Visit the link below to learn more and join an upcoming Q&A session.

One of the unique pedagogical features of The Well's training program, is integrating the expertise and character of each student into the curriculum, giving opportunities for students to present and practice teaching during the course of the program. We enjoy highlighting where students accel and giving them a chance to inspire the rest of the cohort with their skills.
Here is an example of a past student of The Well who transformed her lecture on STIs by utilizing her immense talent for theatre. Please check out her full video at the link below and watch our page for more illuminating educational opportunities coming soon!

Have you noticed that health care these days can seem rushed, impersonal and lacking the nuance needed to initiate a true change of direction? Do you wish you had the knowledge to interpret cycle charts as a screening tool for pathology, as a worthwhile indicator of fertility and a clue into the imbalances of the menstrual cycle?

Fertility Awareness and Sexual/Reproductive Education is a unique field that highlights the importance of patient education and understands that informed patients achieve better results and are more satisfied with care. The Advanced Practitioner Program at The Well gives healthcare practitioners an expertise to bring back to their practice. (Note: The 2 year Teacher Training Program is better for those not already in a clinical practice).

As a FAE and R/SHE, you will graduate with the tools you'll need to understand, teach, and support clients holistically through complex hormonal imbalances and common endocrine pathology. You will be proficient at teaching the Cycle Mapping method of cycle charting and interpreting those charts for use as a highly effective contraceptive method or to guide a family through conception.

The Well: School of Body Literacy has been training the next generation of Fertility Awareness and Sexual/Reproductive Health Educators since 2012. The certification programs include a rigorous, science backed curriculum within a community oriented and cutting edge educational structure, allowing for a whole person experience alongside a professionally competitive, speciality certification. This program is facilitated by leaders in fertility awareness and women’s health who collectively hold many decades of experience.

In 2027 there will be two tracks to achieve certification. The Well will continue to offer the comprehensive two year track, which has always been its keystone program. This year, we have also revised the Advanced Practitioner Program (new name coming soon!) and are ready to accept applicants for both options this summer. Please attend one of our Q&A sessions to discover the best track for you.

This program is ideal for practitioners in reproductive/sexual healthcare who are looking for a speciality or ‘niche’ that empowers clients and immensely helps with their clinical care needs. Fertility Awareness education is the perfect addition for birth workers such as midwives, nurses and doulas to fulfill a true ‘continuity of care’ with their clients. The certification also blends well with those in the fields of health coaching, nutrition, herbalism, pelvic health and many other positions where respecting cyclical and hormonal health agency is paramount. For those looking for a career change or starting out in education or healthcare, the two year track will equip graduates to forge a profession that is unique and much needed in the world.

Our first Q&A session takes place on June 1st (with two additional sessions to follow) so sign up through the link below and join us to learn more!

Catch this important layer of health June 1st for an upcoming CEU with Jessa Rose L. Ac. FAE

This class will explore the relationship between circadian rhythm and reproductive health, with a focus on irregular cycles, anovulation, and PCOS through a practical and physiological lens.

“Your clients with irregular cycles, anovulation and PCOS are likely missing a foundational layer that almost no one in women's health is addressing: the daily circadian rhythm that governs the hormonal timing of the entire menstrual cycle. This 90-minute CEU covers that connection at the physiological level and gives you practical recommendations you can bring into your next client session to support this essential, but missing, layer.”

The Missing Layer: A Circadian Framework for Irregular Cycles, Anovulation, and PCOS
June 1, 2026 @ 9am PT | 12pm ET
90 minutes online
$55 general admission
Current students + alumni of The Well can message or comment the word "ALUMNI CEU" for a discount code

Sessions are $120 per hour (please reach out if financial aid is needed). Sarah has been counseling clients and assessing cycle charts for over 20 years, offering expertise that is not easily found!
