'Biomarkers are measurable indicators of health and disease that guide treatment and predict clinical outcomes. They include blood pressure, pulse, height and weight, as well as lab tests like a CBC or a comprehensive metabolic panel.

When a woman’s hormones are out of balance, her symptoms give us clues as to how to help her bring her system back to a state of health. Listening to her story, a pattern or patterns emerge. Adding objective data rules out potential root causes and can open considerations for factors not yet considered. After treating for an interval, repeating biomarkers helps assess efficacy and guide changes to the plan.

Your client may have seen a provider who ordered blood work and reported that her values were normal. This is because our medical system is calibrated for illness, not for optimal wellness. In this course, Dr. Nedrow will provide optimal ranges for standard labs with the understanding that values outside this range are early indicators for nutritional deficiencies and system overload that can contribute to dis-ease..

In the class, we will cover the 3 most commonly ordered blood panels:

- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
- Lipid panel
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)

These 3 common tests have over 30 individual markers that either individually or when clustered in patterns can indicate an imbalance.

Why start with basic biomarkers instead of ordering a hormone panel or looking at hormone patterns over the course of a cycle? A woman’s reproductive health is built on her general health and vitality. When her system is out of balance, her hormones are often the first thing to go awry. Supporting her basic health first will often be enough on its own and if not, will be the foundation of your therapeutic approach to restore hormonal balance.'

Meet our lovely Sarah Bly!

Sarah is the founder of The Well School of Body Literacy, an educator, mentor, former homebirth midwife, and the heart behind this work.

For over 20 years, she has taught cycle charting and reproductive health education with a focus on helping people truly understand what their bodies are communicating, not just follow rules or methods. Her work blends science, lived experience, and a deep trust in the body’s natural rhythms. Many students come to her work through curiosity and stay because of how grounded, clear, and relational the learning experience feels.

Outside of teaching and mentoring students, Sarah spends time on the land she stewards in Southern Oregon and continues to gather community through retreats, trainings, and shared learning spaces.

We’re grateful for the steadiness, care, and clarity she brings to this work, and for the many ways her teaching continues to ripple outward. 🙏

We're also excited to share that the Association of Fertility Awareness Professionals (AFAP) is once again offering a scholarship opportunity for students enrolled in accredited training programs. One applicant will receive $2,000 toward their educational costs, with applications open through August 15th.
