Taking care of yourself doesn't require a complicated routine, expensive products, or a perfectly planned day. Sometimes the most powerful forms of self-care are the simplest: getting enough rest, drinking water, stepping outside for a little sunshine, taking a deep breath, and giving yourself permission to slow down. When life feels overwhelming, start with the basics—your mind and body will thank you!

A busy mind can make it difficult to get the rest we need. Taking a few minutes before bed to unplug, practice positive affirmations, reflect on what went well during the day, or simply sit in quiet can help calm your brain and prepare your body for restful sleep. Small nightly habits can strengthen resilience, support emotional well-being, and remind us that tomorrow is a new opportunity to grow, heal, and thrive.

For a community like ours -- where older adults make up a meaningful and growing share of our population, it is especially important to highlight and celebrate June as Elder Empowerment Month. Together, let's celebrate the wisdom, resilience, and lives that older adults have influenced, and make sure every person feels seen and valued, regardless of age.
