Family, friends, and very beloved community, the day is finally here!
It’s been 2 and a half years. 29 months.
125 weeks. 874 days.
That’s the amount of time that’s has passed from our family’s worst day of our lives, to one of the absolute BEST!
Ethan’s leukemia diagnosis on March 27, 2024 was the news that forever changed our lives.
It rearranged our lives, introduced all sorts of scary new things, and made a parent’s worst worries even more of a burden to bear. Lots of travel and missing family, too many appointments to count, chemo thats effects lasted far past the dosing appointment. Even having to limit time with family and friends, and even every day places most people don’t have to think twice about going to.
But you want to know what else we got that day? We got a community, one that’s just as close as family, and supports and loves just as hard. We got new perspective on just how much simpler we could live life and appreciate it more. We learned that we can lean on our friends, family, neighbors when we need to. Through every ounce of hard, we always had support and that’s something we can never thank everyone enough for!
And today? Today is the day we can close a chapter of life, and we’re so blessed to be able to; not everyone gets this day.
Ethan gets to ring the bell that signifies he has beaten the nasty disease of Cancer.
He has battled a fight no one should have to, at an age that’s even more horrifying to witness it. Ethan’s faced so many treatments, so often being sick, long hospital stays, and missing home with such a fighter attitude. Not once did this boy give up, even when we felt we weren’t going to ever see the finish line.
But here it is, the end of our travels with Leukemia. The end of Ethan fighting pain he can’t tell us about, being sick, having chemo pumped into his body. The end of such a hard sought fight! And may we all take a note from Ethan and do as he did, take every step one day at a time.
This end being a win means a whole new beginning for us, for Ethan. Getting back to a way of life where every movement doesn’t have to be carefully planned. Being able to freely travel and let Ethan enjoy being a kid to the fullest. Loving on family and friends with hugs and kisses instead of fist bumps and well wishes. Trying new adventures, and even school this fall for Ethan are our next steps and we so can’t wait to take them!
This is the start of LIFE!
We hope you celebrate with us in this victory. We hope you know just how profoundly every prayer, outreach of support, financial help, and things for Ethan helped us survive the unimaginable. The worst thing is to feel alone in such hard times, and we’re incredibly thankful we never did!
With SO much love, and tear filled eyes of celebration, let’s all shout a huge WOOHOO for Ethan’s victory bell!
Ethan Strong 👍🏼🧡
