This is a throwback to when I traveled to Vegas to learn from the lovely Msamberred Permanent Makeup, known for creating rich, saturated black liner that truly stands the test of time.

I don’t pierce tiny ears the same way I pierce adult ears.... and there’s a reason for that.

I use a needle for adults and older children. For babies and little ones, I use a hand-pressured pediatric piercing device (and no, it is not a piercing gun.) It’s operated by hand, allowing me to keep the process quick and controlled. It also uses safety backs, which I love for tiny ears.

I take my time with every child and pay close attention to how they’re doing. I don’t force children through the process. Sometimes we do both ears. Sometimes we do one and finish the other another day. And sometimes we decide today simply isn’t the day.

Being a mom and a social worker shapes the way I work: slow down, pay attention, and never make finishing the piercing more important than the child in front of me 💗

I want them to think you did your makeup...... and did it really well.

Almost everyone who comes to my studio says, “I just want them to look natural.” But natural doesn’t always mean barely there. It can mean soft, polished and filled in without looking harsh or overwhelming.

Basically: makeup, not tattoo!!

A little behind-the-scenes look at lip tattooing 👄

I know watching the process probably brings up some questions. Does it hurt? How swollen do your lips get? How do we choose a color? What does it look like once it heals?

Lip blush can add color back into the lips, give them a little more definition and help everything look more even. It looks brighter immediately after the appointment, but it heals into a much softer, more natural color.

Five years ago, Jennica Rose Beauty started with brows. (It's been five years!) 😮

Today, all of my worlds collided: social worker, mom, piercer.

My little client was really nervous, so we talked about anxiety.... why our brains do it and how feeling anxious doesn’t always mean something is unsafe.

We gave her stuffed puppy a pep talk, and at some point I ended up piercing the puppy’s ears too, complete with a little paw-print diamond 😂

Is this something I normally do? No. Did it make sense in the moment? Absolutely.

A lot of piercing kids is simply meeting them where they are. Today, that included the puppy.
