🌟Student Spotlight: Khadija Sesay 🌟
We are proud to celebrate Khadija Sesay, a junior nursing student in The Jacquelyn Wilson Fegley '71 College of Nursing, who was selected as one of just 21 students to participate in the Independence Blue Cross (IBX) Foundation's Nursing Internship Program this summer! 💉💙
As an IBX Foundation Nursing Scholar, Khadija spent 10 weeks gaining valuable primary care experience at Mercy Fitzgerald, where she worked with a hypertension prevention program. Her experience included patient outreach, vita sign assessment, medication education, electronic health records, and patient advocacy.
Khadija also took her learning one step further by conducting a study of 30 patients examining the effectiveness of hypertension prevention strategies. She presented her findings during the IBX recognition ceremony on August 6. 📚👏
Her experience is a wonderful example of how nursing extends beyond caring for patients during a health crisis...it also means building relationships, promoting prevention, addressing barriers to health, and advocating for patients and communities.
We are incredibly proud to see our Neumann nursing students taking what they learn in the classroom and clinical setting and using it to make a difference! 💙💛
