For Imane Rebbouh, becoming a nurse was the realization of a childhood dream that began while standing outside Mount Sinai Queens, watching nurses come and go, telling herself, “One day, that’s going to be me.”

Years later she made that dream a reality. Inspired by caring for her mother, Imane began her journey at Mount Sinai as a medical assistant before earning her nursing degree and becoming a critical care nurse.

To Imane, being a Mount Sinai Nurse means leading with empathy, skill, and a genuine love for the profession. For her, nursing isn’t just a job. it’s a calling.

Thank you, Imane, for your perseverance, compassion, and dedication to the patients and families you care for every day.

Mount Sinai Queens' ICU Groundbreaking Ceremony reflects years of vision, advocacy, and dedication. This expansion will nearly triple the hospital's ICU capacity, allowing it to care for more critically ill patients close to home. It will improve access to timely care, reduce transfers, and strengthen our ability to meet growing demand. Most importantly, the new ICU will represent our continued commitment to delivering high-quality, advanced care while ensuring patients and families can remain close to the place they know and love.

Thank you to the MSQ ICU team—physicians, nurses, and staff—whose dedication, resilience, and patience have been instrumental in getting us to this point.

At Mount Sinai Queens, care goes beyond treatment—it’s in the moments of connection that truly matter.

Diane Forde, from our Patient and Equipment Transport team, recently turned hesitation into trust by listening and guiding a patient who had initially refused a scheduled test. In the Emergency Department, she helped a distressed patient in police custody feel heard and calm, creating a safer, more positive experience.

“Diane consistently goes above and beyond,” says Gigi Carlucci, Director of Patient and Equipment Transport. Her empathy and dedication make a meaningful difference every day.

It’s a reminder that sometimes the smallest gestures can have the biggest impact. Thank you for all that you do, Diane!

Mount Sinai Queens is proud to celebrate our ICU and IMCU teams for earning the Gold Beacon Award for Excellence (2025) from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.

Only 16% of units nationwide achieved Gold status—and two are right here at Mount Sinai Queens. This is a true testament to the exceptional care, teamwork, and compassion our teams deliver every day.

Congratulations!
