In honor of Men’s Health Week and Men’s Health Month, Dr. Cole Steber is sharing tips for prostate cancer prevention!

Dr. Steber advocates that being aware of your family history is particularly important, especially as it can impact how you and your primary care provider might screen for prostate cancer.

In addition to being aware of your genetic risk and screening options, Dr. Steber recommends ceasing smoking and maintaining a healthy weight to reduce your risk of developing prostate cancer.

Now thirteen years cancer free, Pam says, “The thing that I have learned through this experience is that today is not the end... We look at the diagnosis that we get today, but that’s not the end, it’s only the beginning, and we just continue this journey. There’s something better at the end.”

In honor of National Cancer Survivors Month, we're sharing survivor Kimberly Liebowitz's story.

"I was able to ring the bell after my last chemotherapy and celebrate with everyone that had supported me along this journey," says Kimberly. "I feel like UCBC was rooting for me. It felt like they were my family and they were holding my hand through this."

Diagnosed with breast cancer after her routine mammogram, Kimberly is now cancer-free and advocates that all women receive their mammograms for early detection and to promote the very best positive outcomes.

In honor of National Cancer Research Month, we're sharing Tony's story!

"They were able to pull me through, give me access to a clinical trial, that thank goodness I was able to get into!" says Tony. "The clinical trials offered to me locally are world-class, and they give me the comfort that I need to live my life."

At UCBC, we approach clinical trial opportunities as an extension of patient care, incorporating them whenever evidence suggests there could be benefit towards an individual’s treatment and recovery. Learn more about our approach and active clinical trials here: https://bit.ly/3QzNIOQ
