Today, we remember with profound respect and sorrow the innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001. We honor every mother, father, son, daughter, friend, colleague, and neighbor whose life was taken that day, and we hold their families and loved ones in our hearts.
We also pay tribute to the brave men and women who ran toward danger when others were running awayโthe firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel, military members, public servants, and ordinary citizens who answered the call to help. Many made the ultimate sacrifice; countless others carried the physical and emotional scars of that day for years afterward.
Their courage reminds us of the strength found in service, compassion, and unity. In the face of unimaginable tragedy, Americans came together to care for one another and to defend the values that bind us.
May we never forget those we lost. May we always honor those who served and sacrificed. And may we continue to choose courage over fear, compassion over division, and unity over hatred.
God bless the families who endured such loss, God bless those who came to the rescue, and God bless the United States of America.
