The Science of Cannabis 🌿
THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol) are the most common cannabinoids found in cannabis products. Note that there are more than 100 cannabinoids in cannabis which all cause drug-like reactions in the body.
THC and CBD are in both ma*****na and h**p. Ma*****na contains much more THC than h**p, while h**p has a lot of CBD.
THC is the main psychoactive compound in ma*****na. It's what makes people feel "high." Research states that CBD can be psychoactive but it does not produce a high.
We have two types of cannabinoid receptors in our bodies, CB1 and CB2. THC binds with CB1 receptors -- mostly found in the brain -- that control pain, mood, and other feelings. That's why THC can make you feel euphoric and give you that so-called high.
CBD doesn't cause that high. Instead, it binds to CB2 receptors — mostly found throughout the body and in organs — to promote feelings of well-being and assist in anti-inflammatory processes.
