Most people think pain is just “something is damaged.”

But modern pain science shows there are actually different TYPES of pain — and each one needs a different approach.

🔹 Nociceptive Pain
This is tissue-based pain.
Think:
• muscle strains
• arthritis
• tendon irritation
• acute injuries

The body is responding to mechanical stress, inflammation, or irritation.

🔹 Neuropathic Pain
This is nerve-related pain.
Think:
• sciatica
• burning pain
• tingling
• numbness
• electrical sensations

The nervous system itself is irritated or damaged.

🔹 Nociplastic Pain
This is sensitized nervous system pain.
Think:
• fibromyalgia
• chronic widespread pain
• persistent fatigue
• pain that doesn’t match imaging
• symptoms worsened by stress, poor sleep, or overwhelm

The alarm system becomes hypersensitive.

The problem is that many people get treated the SAME way no matter which type of pain they have.

At The Alignment Project, we assess:
✔ structural alignment
✔ movement patterns
✔ nervous system regulation
✔ metabolic health
✔ stress physiology
✔ breathing patterns
✔ lifestyle load

Because persistent pain is rarely “just tight muscles.”

Sometimes the tissues need help.
Sometimes the nerves need help.
Sometimes the nervous system needs safety and regulation again.

Healing starts when you understand WHICH system is driving the pain experience.

The re**us femoris(quad muscle) attaches to the AIiS on the front of the pelvis. When tight it can pull the pelvis forward putting the SI joint in an anterior translation potentially leading to slack in the posterior ligaments of the SI joint and potentially disrupting the form and/or force closure mechanism.
Getting rid of SI joint pain for good can be done! If you’re struggling and relying on treatments, please DM.

Pain quickens your consciousness more than anything thing else. So it is an opportunity to pay attention and grow.
Your back pain isn’t random it is from not being conscious of the choices you were making at the time. That could be lifting with poor form, lifting too much for your ability, not enough rest, too much booze and sh*tty food and relying on doctors and medicine to fix you.
Back pain can be healed naturally with simple choices and the right dedication. Let pain be your teacher.

I hard, but simple. Key to getting out of pain.

1. Structural health-neurological deficits, flexibility, strength and power.

2. Metabolic Health-Gut health, detoxification, mitochondrial heath, sleep hygiene and recovery capacity

3. Personal Health- getting aligned with what you are here to do and who you’re supposed to do it with.

You’re not crazy for thinking,
“Why does this keep coming back?”

Because a lot of people I work with have already done the “right” things.

Physical therapy.
Chiropractic.
Massage.
Dry needling.
Even nervous system work.

And for a little while… it helps.

(then it doesn’t)

That’s the frustrating part.

Not because those things are wrong—
but because they’re usually only addressing one piece of what’s going on.

Most chronic pain isn’t just coming from one place.

It’s coming from a system that’s out of sync.

So you get stuck in this loop:
➡️ try something
➡️ feel a little better
➡️ pain comes back
➡️ start over

Over and over again.

If that cycle sounds familiar, you’re exactly who I made this for.

Next video, I’ll break down the 3 systems that are usually involved—and why missing one keeps people stuck.

Comment “STUCK” if this has been your experience.

Your body doesn’t break the same way every time.

It adapts.

Which is why your pain feels unpredictable—one week it’s fine, the next it flares up doing “nothing.”

That’s not randomness. That’s a system that’s been compensating for too long.

Until you address why your body keeps shifting strategies, you’ll keep chasing symptoms instead of solving the pattern.

If your body feels unpredictable, there’s usually a very predictable reason behind it.

04/20/2026

Back pain isn’t always a back problem.

Sometimes what you’re feeling is a viscerosomatic reflex—when internal organ stress shows up as tension or pain in the muscles.

Your body shares nerve pathways between organs and muscles.
So when something internal is off (stress, digestion, inflammation), your brain can “project” that signal into your back.

You treat the back… but the pattern stays.

Because the source wasn’t the back to begin with.

If your pain feels random, stubborn, or doesn’t respond to typical treatments, it might be time to look deeper.

Hip surgeries are worthless unless you change the strategy.
The hip likes to stay centered. The most common positions that the hip gets pulled into is anteriorly, superior and inferior. All can create compression at the front of the hip.
Common postures I see are sway back, posteriorly rotated pelvis and a pelvis that is in rotation.
The right corrective program can retrain the body to keep the hip centered and avoid excessive compression.

Structural health—-posture, muscle imbalances, joint function, movement patterns and compensations.

Metabolic health- gut health, detoxification, recovery capacity and hormonal health.

Mental/Emotional health-does your inside story match your outside story.

Integrative pain management is a coordinated, evidence-based approach to treating pain that combines conventional medical treatments with complementary therapies. While a standard pain management clinic might focus strictly on steroid injections or medication management, an integrative approach widens the lens to view the patient as a whole person.
Pain is rarely just physical. Conditions like spinal stenosis, neck pain, and joint pain don’t exist in a vacuum. They’re often exacerbated by systemic inflammation, chronic stress, poor sleep, and various lifestyle factors.

If you have chronic back pain, for example, stress might cause muscle tension that worsens the pain, while inflammation from a poor diet might prevent the tissue from healing. Treating only the spine ignores the other variables that aggravate the condition.

If you think an Integrative approach could help you, please DM or visit link in bio.
