What an incredible honor. I’m deeply grateful to be recognized by during National Nurses Week — not only as a nurse, but also as the Founder and Chair of the Institute for Future Registered Nurses Inc.

For years, it has been a dream and vision of mine to one day partner with Northside Hospital in meaningful ways that uplift, educate, and empower the future of healthcare professionals and the communities we serve. To now be acknowledged by an organization that has long represented excellence, compassion, and impact in healthcare is truly humbling.

Nursing is more than a career — it is influence, leadership, advocacy, and service. Every opportunity to pour into others, whether at the bedside or through initiatives that develop and support future nurses, is one I carry with deep gratitude and responsibility.

Thank you, Northside, for seeing the heart behind the work and for celebrating nurses who continue to lead with compassion and purpose every single day. The journey is only beginning. 🤍

Three years ago, I sat across the table from C-suite executives - the VP of HR, CNO, and Director of Women’s Services.

I found myself asking the hard questions:
"Why aren’t there enough staff?”
“Why do transfers always happen at shift change?”
“What’s the holdup in providing safety for everyone?”

The answers I received? Vague. Uncertain.
And that’s when it hit me — I couldn’t just sit by and watch the same problems persist.

That day, I made a decision: to stop waiting for change and start creating it.
