The most powerful healers are often those who know what it means to struggle.

That's one reason JJ, now a Mercy Care employee, connects so deeply with the patients she supports every day.

At 15, JJ struggled with addiction and depression. Growing up in Louisiana, she didn't have access to a place like Mercy Care and had to find her own path to healing. At 21, she made the life-changing decision to take control of her health, leave addiction behind, and move to Atlanta for a fresh start. Today, she has been in recovery for more than 20 years.

JJ joined Mercy Care as a Security Guard and now serves as a Personal Support Aide, helping patients navigate challenges with compassion, practical support, and encouragement. Whether she's taking someone to an appointment, helping them find warm clothing, sharing a conversation, or simply making them laugh, JJ is there for them.

As JJ puts it:

"I'm blessed to be able to share my story with other people because I wouldn't be where I am today without my coworkers and Mercy Care."

Stories like JJ's remind us that healing happens through human connection.

Behind every number is a person, a family, and a story.

Last year, we cared for 18,089 patients through more than 68,000 visits and served 1,226 uninsured children in our community. We also supported 11,891 people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, helping ensure access to healthcare for some of Atlanta's most vulnerable neighbors.

We're also proud to be recognized for the quality of care we provide.

Each year, HRSA awards Community Health Quality Recognition (CHQR) badges to health centers that achieve excellence in access, clinical quality, and health information technology. Of the 10 health centers in the Atlanta area, Mercy Care was the only organization to receive more than one CHQR badge in 2026.

A huge congratulations to our team for the compassion, dedication, and excellence they bring to their work every day. Because everyone needs mercy, we'll continue bringing high-quality healthcare where it's needed most.

Compassionate care includes helping families make informed decisions about their health. Our own Dr. Adam Kraus, Director of Pediatrics at Mercy Care, was featured in a recent news segment discussing the rise in measles cases in Georgia and the increasing number of kindergarten vaccine exemptions. 💉

A key takeaway from the conversation: Measles is highly contagious, but it is also preventable through vaccination. As communities continue to see new cases, ensuring children and families stay up to date on recommended vaccines remains one of the most effective ways to protect public health. 🩺

Our Mercy Care Chamblee team was honored to attend both the Poder LatinX event and the 2026 LAA Annual Hispanic Health Expo, where they had the opportunity to meet families, share resources, and provide healthcare support. 🩺

At the Poder LatinX event, our Director of Pediatrics provided free sports physicals, while team members shared resources and information to help support the health and well-being of children in our community. 💙

At the LAA Annual Hispanic Health Expo, our providers and staff connected with patients and families, distributed toothbrushes and toothpaste, and shared information about the dental services available at Mercy Care. 💙

We wrapped up National Health Center Week at Mercy Care with a little Friday grilling and chilling! Across all four of our Atlanta campuses, teams came together for great food, good company, fun prizes, and a chance to celebrate the incredible work happening at our health centers every day. This National Health Center Week, Mercy Care Atlanta joined community health leaders for an important conversation about the future of healthcare access in Georgia. 🤝🩺

Together with partners from MedCura Health, HEALing Community Health, ARCHI, and Mosaic Health Clinic, we discussed how recent federal policy changes, including the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1) and proposed changes to the 340B Program, could affect healthcare access for the patients and communities we serve. ❤️

Community Health Centers play a critical role in providing affordable, accessible care, and we remain committed to working alongside our partners to advocate for the health and well-being of all Georgians. When we learn from one another and work together, we can build healthier communities for everyone. 💙
