Celebrating Darilyn Moyer, MD, MACP, retiring ACP CEO / EVP
I was honored to represent AMA to celebrate Darilyn Moyer MD, MACP at her retirement party last weekend in Philadelphia. Darilyn has had an incredible decade leading the American College of Physicians (ACP) as EVP/CEO. In that role, she transformed the ACP, helping elevate more women, IMGs, and underrepresented groups to leadership positions. Darilyn has mentored so many physicians both in her long academic medicine career at Temple and then on overdrive at the ACP.
I will be forever indebted to Darilyn for her friendship and advice she shared with me over so many years. Darilyn was there offering advice, through every interview, when I first ran for the AMA Board of Trustees. Darilyn’s sage insight and advice was also so instrumental in my decision to run for AMA president-elect in June. I can never thank her enough!
At the AMA annual meeting in June, our outstanding CEO, John Whyte MD, personally presented Darilyn with the AMA’s Medical Executive Meritorious Achievement Award. That is the highest award the AMA can give to a medical executive. Dr. Whyte said, “Dr. Darilyn Moyer has made an extraordinary impact on medicine through her steady leadership, deep commitment to physicians, and unwavering focus on improving patient care.”
No truer words have ever been spoken.
Darilyn, thank you for everything you’ve done to advance internal medicine, to advance organized medicine, and to support and mentor so many of us. You truly are a national treasure!
