MickiPHIT Skates: The Spiral
The latest move in my skating series is The Spiral 🌀 — an artistic skating move that requires balance, control, strength, mobility, flexibility, and a whole lot of practice!
In each episode of MickiPHIT Skates, I’m sharing a skating move I’m working on, refining, or trying to improve, along with the Pilates and/or strength-training exercises I use to help me get there. 🛼
For the Spiral, it’s all about creating that beautiful line while staying strong and controlled through the entire movement.
And there is SO much strength happening from head to toe!
🦶🏽 The standing leg has to work from the foot and ankle all the way up through the calf, knee, hamstring, and glutes to create stability and control.
🦵🏽 The extended leg requires strength and mobility to stay lifted, lengthened, and active throughout the movement. Your glutes help keep the leg up, while the lower and middle back work to support the position.
💪🏽 The upper back is working to keep the arms long, extended, and beautifully connected to the rest of the body.
🔥 And your entire core is engaged to stabilize your spine, control your position, and help you maintain balance while you’re moving through the Spiral.
It’s a true full-body movement that brings together balance, strength, mobility, flexibility, stability, and body awareness.
The goal isn’t just to do the move—it’s to build the strength, control, and awareness to make it feel more effortless.
Come train with me, skate with me, and follow along as I work toward the moves I want to master! 🌀🛼💪🏽
