Dental care can be challenging, and sometimes risky, for individuals with bleeding disorders. Routine procedures such as cleanings, extractions, or root canals can lead to serious bleeding complications if they are not carefully planned. We are striving to increase awareness among dental providers to avoid delayed treatment or, in some cases, denial of care altogether.

Finding reliable childcare for a child with a bleeding disorder can be challenging, but preparation can make all the difference. Educating babysitters ahead of time helps them feel confident, understand what to do in an emergency, and provides safe, supportive care. The “Note to the Babysitter” resource offers a ready-to-use guide with key information and emergency contacts to share with caregivers. “It has always been my objective at work and in life to not just survive but thrive, and as Maya Angelou said, ‘to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.’ In my short time at Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG) I have been able to do just that. Working here has allowed me to grow, contribute with purpose, lead with compassion, and bring my authentic self, passion, humor, and style to the work I do every day.” -Ramona Mauro, Senior Revenue Cycle Coordinator
