SEPTEMBER IS PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

This September, AED Health Consulting joins organizations across the country in raising awareness about **prostate cancer and the importance of early detection.

Prostate cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among men. Black men are at particularly high risk, making awareness, informed conversations with healthcare providers, and appropriate screening especially important.

KNOW YOUR RISK

Risk increases with age, family history, and certain racial and ethnic backgrounds. Having a father or brother who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer may also increase your risk.

DON’T WAIT FOR SYMPTOMS

Early prostate cancer may cause **no noticeable symptoms. That’s why it’s important to talk with your healthcare provider about your individual risk and whether PSA (prostate-specific antigen) screening is appropriate for you.

START THE CONVERSATION

Ask your healthcare provider:

• What is my personal risk for prostate cancer?
• When should I begin PSA screening?
• How often should I be screened?
• What are the benefits and potential risks of screening?

💙 Awareness can lead to action. Action can lead to early detection. Early detection can save lives.

This month, encourage the men in your life fathers, brothers, sons, husbands, partners, friends, and coworkers to prioritize their health and have a conversation with their healthcare provider.
