SPCC Atlanta AHECS Ga AHEC Scholars FY26 Orientation and Kick-Off. The program was held at Clayton State University (CSU) Harry S. Downs College of Health Professions. Ji’Keria Basley, Continuing Education Coordinator led the program, having recruited the largest class, 29 students in Cohort 8. This year’s program boasts collaborations with diverse disciplines and several institutions, such as Clayton State’s Nursing and Dental Hygeine programs, Ga State’s MPH Program, Mercer University’s MPH Program, Morehouse School of Medicine’s Medical and MPH Programs, and South College’s PA and Nursing programs. Both students and faculty will engage in a two year interprofessional education (IPE) program providing didactic learning and community experientials in IPE, Social Determinants of Health, Cultural Diversity, Behavioral Health, Emerging Health Topics, Practice Transformation, Telehealth and Connecting Communities. Scholars will receive certification in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Community Health Worker. Cohort 7, with 9 scholars is the graduating class this year. The date for the ceremony is tentatively scheduled for the month of April. A BIG THANK YOU to Dr. Michael Scott, Dean of College of Health Professions at CSU for hosting the Orientations & Kick-Off Event, and Dr. Victoria Foster (CSU), as she serves as Lead Faculty for the AHEC Scholars Program.
