What an honor for our team this week!

During the 2026 Senior Tech Summit, we hosted an exhibit table showcasing assistive technology. We were visited by Lawrence Williams, one of the first three African American students accepted to Georgia Tech in 1961. This monumental step made Georgia Tech the first public university in the Deep South to peacefully integrate its student body without a court order.

Mr. Williams, along with his classmates Ford C. Greene and Ralph A. Long, Jr., have been immortalized as bronze statues in Harrison Square. Visit arts.gatech.edu/public-art/three-pioneers to view photos of the statues and read related articles.
