Yesterday’s Big Peach Sizzler 5K reminded us what makes the Georgia CF community so special!
A record number of runners showed up — families, friends, clinicians, and people with CF themselves — all moving with purpose and heart. Seeing Dr. Linnemann, Dr. Tsai from our Emory Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program, Brandi Middour-Oxler (NP/Transition Program Coordinator) and so many of our CF families out on the course was a powerful reminder that this community shows up for one another in every season.
BreatheStrongCF has been a lifeline for families across Georgia. This year alone, they’ve provided over $38,000 in grocery and gas support to help families stay afloat during difficult moments. And their exercise grant program — more than $320,000 given nationally — has helped countless people with CF stay active, strong, and hopeful.
But due to recent budget constraints, exercise grants are currently paused. BreatheStrongCF hopes to reopen them soon — and days like yesterday make that hope feel real. Every runner, every volunteer, every cheer from the sidelines helps bring these programs closer to returning for the people who rely on them!!
