So… what exactly is HCES?

HCES is a healthcare and emergency management firm that steps in where systems are stretched thin and support is needed most.

That can look like staffing schools with nurses and behavioral health professionals. Supporting children and families through difficult transitions. Providing care inside correctional facilities. Or responding during emergencies and disasters when communities need rapid, reliable support.

At its core, HCES exists to make sure the care, structure, and services people are supposed to receive actually happen — especially in spaces where gaps in healthcare and public health systems can deeply impact communities.

What makes this work different is that it doesn’t stop at one area of care. HCES operates at the intersection of healthcare, behavioral health, emergency response, and community support to help organizations and families navigate real-world challenges in real time.

Public health isn’t just policy — it’s people. And this is what showing up for people looks like.

When most people think about public health risks, they think about smoking, poor diet, or lack of exercise.

But one of the most damaging health factors today is something much quieter: social isolation.

Research continues to show that chronic loneliness doesn’t just affect emotional wellness, it can impact physical health, increase stress levels, and contribute to long-term health conditions across communities.

That’s why connection matters. Community matters. People matter.

At HCES, we know healthier communities are built not only through services and systems, but through support, relationships, and access to care that helps people feel connected instead of isolated.

💬 Did this statistic surprise you?

05/22/2026

Most people don’t think about systems until they stop working for someone they love.

Until a family can’t access care.
Until a child falls through the cracks.
Until a community is left waiting during a crisis.
Until support arrives too late.

That’s why this work matters.

At HCES, our work exists in the spaces most people rarely see — supporting healthcare systems, staffing critical roles, responding during emergencies, and helping communities navigate moments where stability, care, and access matter most.

Public health is not just policy or paperwork. It’s real people, real families, and real lives being impacted every single day.

And while this work may not always be visible, its impact is.

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that caring for people also means caring for the people doing the caring.

Healthcare professionals continue to show up in high-pressure environments every day — navigating long shifts, emotional exhaustion, compassion fatigue, burnout, and the mental weight that often comes with serving others consistently.

At HCES, people come first.

Whether serving in travel RN assignments, psych units, correctional healthcare, emergency response, or community-based care, healthcare professionals deserve support too. Mental wellness is not separate from healthcare — it is healthcare.

This month, we encourage every healthcare worker to check in with themselves the same way they check in with others:
🧠 Rest when needed
💚 Seek support without shame
📍 Prioritize boundaries and balance
🤝 Remember that you do not have to carry everything alone

Awareness matters. Access matters. Support matters.

💬 Tag a healthcare professional who deserves encouragement this month.

Skin Cancer Awareness Month is more than a reminder to wear sunscreen ➡️ it’s a public health conversation.

Skin cancer remains the most common cancer in the United States, yet many people still underestimate how everyday UV exposure impacts long-term health outcomes. From commutes to cloudy days, sun exposure adds up over time; and awareness, prevention, and early detection all play a critical role in reducing risk.

Public health is not only about responding to illness. It’s about education, prevention, and helping communities access the information they need before a health issue becomes a crisis.

This is especially important in conversations around skin cancer, where misconceptions still exist about who is at risk, what symptoms look like, and when to seek care.

☀️ Prevention matters
🧴 Early detection matters
🩺 Access to education matters

Protecting community health starts with awareness.

When asked what separates HCES from other organizations in this space, Nadine Phillips’ answer came down to something simple but powerful: the people.

As the Executive Assistant to Dr. Bruce James and someone who has played an incredibly pivotal role in the growth and day-to-day foundation of HCES, Nadine has had a front-row seat to what it truly takes to build an organization rooted in impact, professionalism, and service.

In her words, what makes HCES stand out is the level of knowledge, preparation, and professionalism the team brings into every space they enter. She spoke about the importance of having people who continuously educate themselves, understand the healthcare and public health landscape deeply, and lead with both expertise and integrity.

And coming from Nadine, that perspective carries weight.

Behind many of the systems, operations, and moving parts that keep HCES growing is someone who has consistently shown up with dedication, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the mission. Her insight reflects the culture HCES has worked hard to build — one centered around excellence, trust, and real community impact.

Because in this work, it’s not just about what you do.
It’s about how you show up while doing it.

Some roles you don’t fully understand… until you experience them.

Nurses are showing up in high-pressure environments, carrying emotional, mental, and physical demands that most people never see — and the data reflects it.

Burnout is high. Stress is constant. And many are questioning how long they can continue in systems that depend on them so heavily.

And still… they show up.

At HCES, we see how critical nurses are — not just in hospitals, but in communities, homes, and moments where care is needed most.

This week is about more than appreciation. It’s about recognizing the reality of the work, the weight they carry, and the impact they make every single day.

💙 If a nurse has ever made a difference in your life, let them know.
