It's time for the update you've been waiting for!

As you know there were plans to re-open a while back but they fell through. My temporary retirement has extended far past my original intended break.

The GOOD NEWS is, I've been invited on to start a new studio with an old colleague of mine. It couldn't be a better situation for me, really - he is essentially setting out with nearly identical goals to what I had for MIA, but with added benefits like a much better location and more space! This is going to give me more time to focus on my clients instead of running a studio :) but I'll still be getting all the picky details I previously had to be in charge to get.

It's getting really close to open date for the new studio and once I do, I will officially open my books for new appointments :) as soon as the date is settled I'll drop the big announcement. For now I can share that it's about 1-2 months out and we will be next to the Decatur square 😮

I anticipate getting booked up pretty quickly but I do want to make sure I prioritize time for those of my clients with unfinished work who have been waiting very patiently for me to come back. So if you are one of these people and you're ready to go, feel free go ahead and get in touch with me. I will most likely be getting a new shop email so Facebook messenger will probably get the quickest response time but I will also try to keep an eye on my Gmail ([email protected]) until I get the new one set up.

If you sent me any messages during my downtime that did not receive a response, send me a new message and I will unearth them :)

I'm so excited to be coming back, in an environment and culture that is compatible with the kind of experience I want to be able to give my clients. It just wasn't worth working until I knew that was what I could provide

Guys, I have officially signed a lease on a studio :)

The biggest obstacle is over, however I still have a month or two left of building out the interior and submitting permits before I will be up and running again.

I like to work with people who have supported me or worked with me in the past as much as possible. I am now looking for an electrician and plumber to help me with running my water line and hooking up power in the new wall(s) I will be putting in my space. Subsequently, if this applies to any of you or someone in your family (licensed to work in Fulton Co) please reach out!

I am excited to get back in the studio and open my books as soon as possible :)

Well folks it's been a good run but Monster Ink Atlanta will be shutting its doors for the last time the day after tomorrow.

I appreciate all the loving support and words of encouragement from my friends and clients, as this has been a very tough decision to face. The combined challenge of dealing with a landlord who definitively wants me out of the building along with trying to take on the full work load and responsibilities of a three-man studio on my own has just been too much on me. The last year has seen a massive decline in my QoL and mental health just trying to keep up. I should have shut down months ago, but every time one of you got in contact to beg me to stay open made me want to hold out just a little longer.

I don't think tattooing is over for me, but between the awful people I've had to work for in this industry and the thorough gaslighting I received from the last 'friend' I had working for me, I remain convinced I would rather try to make it on my own than try to find work at another studio working for another likely terrible human being. If you are a studio owner looking for another artist who would like to challenge that expectation (or if you're got booth space you'd be willing to cut out for someone needing a place to "guest spot" in-between shops), feel free to make your case to me via pm.

Otherwise, as soon as I am done getting my things moved out I'm starting fresh to look for studio space for one-two booths in Brookhaven, Doraville, or Tucker. The process of opening a shop can take anywhere from a few to several months depending on local regulations, but the goal is to get back into a sustainable work situation as soon as possible.

Folks, I do plan on offering Friday 13th tattoos til I drop this Friday :) Just be aware that it is -only- me tattooing in the shop currently so if you bring your six friends and your aunt (Yes please, the more the merrier XD) just be prepared to receive your tattoos one at a time. Ha! I'll be opening my door about noon and taking clients on a first-come, first-served basis (but if you know ahead of time you will be arriving at a specific time do let me know and I'll do my best to have a slot available for you). The price, as usual, is $20 with a $5 tip. No new sheet this time around, but you can find most of the previous Friday 13th sheets I've come up with in our post history, and I am also happy to work with other comparable Friday 13th designs if you want to bring in something from another sheet. Comments, questions, concerns? Hit my inbox!

As the move to my new studio quickly approaches, just dropping a reminder that I AM still looking and available for work, but PLEASE be at least willing to send me a message and set up a time to meet. I am still the only artist in the studio, and I am handling 100% of the work for moving (on top of being a wife and home keeper outside of work) by myself, requiring me to spend my time between appointments on other tasks.

IF you cannot give me the MINIMAL effort and respect of setting up a tentative time to meet and discuss your piece, I am going to assume you are not serious enough about getting tattooed to devote valuable time to sitting around and waiting for you when there are other pressing matters on my agenda!

Obligatory THANKS are in order to my regular clients who already understand this and don't have a problem with giving me a heads-up when they want a meeting
