The Georgia Affiliate of the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) is the official professional

Midwives are primary health care providers to women throughout the lifespan. This means that midwives perform physical exams, prescribe medications including contraceptive methods, order laboratory tests as needed, provide prenatal care, gynecological care, labor and birth care, as well as health education and counseling to women of all ages.

Celebrating National Midwifery Week: Janice Collins, CNM Inspire OBGYN

Some careers are planned, while others are discovered. For Janice Collins, CNM, a summer hospital internship sparked a calling to care for women and families. With more than 30 years of experience, Janice has supported countless families through pregnancy, birth, and beyond with compassion, experience, and personalized care.

One of the most special parts of being a midwife is the relationships built along the way. Janice even had the privilege of caring for one family through all three of their deliveries: a beautiful reminder of the trust, connection, and continuity that make midwifery so meaningful.

This National Midwifery Week, we’re honored to celebrate Janice and the incredible difference she makes in the lives of the families she serves. 💙

🌿 National Midwifery Week is here! 🌿

This week, we celebrate the midwives who show up every day to care for Georgia families — through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, gynecologic, reproductive, and primary care.

Midwifery care is rooted in relationship, respect, shared decision-making, and trust in the physiologic process of birth. Whether in a hospital, birth center, clinic, or home, midwives support families with compassionate, evidence-based care. 💙

And this work matters now more than ever.

Across the country, maternity care access is shrinking. Maternity care deserts are growing, labor and delivery units are closing, and communities are feeling the impact.

Midwives are part of the solution. 💙

The evidence supporting midwifery-led care is strong, yet midwives still attend only a small share of the births they are qualified to support. Expanding midwifery education, removing barriers to full practice, and supporting midwives to remain in clinical practice are essential to improving access for families.

This National Midwifery Week, take a moment to celebrate a midwife who has inspired you — a colleague, preceptor, mentor, or student who represents the future of our profession. 💙

Here’s to the midwives caring for Georgia and the families who trust us to walk alongside them. 💙

REPOST • Georgia NACPM So proud to share the first ever Georgia Midwifery Policy Legislative Strategy Session was a huge success!

We began the day with a session facilitated by aorta for core coalition members, where we decided how to make decisions, and what policy criteria were must-haves.

Then we gathered with partners to dig into midwifery and birth center policies from other states, taking suggestions on what we liked and did not like! At the end, everyone got to vote on their favorite policy! 🤓

The Georgia Midwifery Access Coalition is live and in 🎬action! We are Georgia’s midwives, RJ advocates, birthing people, and we are united for increasing access to community-based, midwifery-led care!

Thank you to Center for Black Women’s Wellness for allowing us to use the space.
