Today, I’m reflecting on freedom.

Freedom that was dreamed of, fought for, prayed for, and passed down.

I’m deeply grateful for the freedoms that allowed me to pursue my dream of becoming a physician — a dream that would not have been possible for so many who came before me.

And I’m also grateful for the freedom that gave me the power and courage to choose myself when I was burned out. To step away from a version of success that looked good on paper but no longer felt aligned. To build something of my own.

Lifestyle Care is part of that freedom.

The freedom to practice medicine in a way that feels personal, thoughtful, and human.
The freedom to care for people with time, strategy, and compassion.
The freedom to build a business rooted in purpose, not just survival.

On Juneteenth, I honor the sacrifices that made my freedoms possible — and I don’t take any of them lightly.

Happy Juneteenth. ❤️🖤💚

Weight loss is hard.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing everything right and it’s still harder than it should be, you’re not imagining that.

This is where the six pillars I use with my patients at Lifestyle Care come in. When even one pillar is off, weight loss feels harder than it needs to be.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be breaking each pillar down — one at a time — with practical steps you can actually use.

Follow along.

Which pillar are you going to work on this week?

Cortisol is not the enemy. It’s essential for survival. The problem begins when stress becomes chronic and cortisol stays elevated longer than it should.

That’s when subtle symptoms start showing up, often mistaken for “getting older,” burnout, or lack of discipline.

1. Fat accumulating around the midsection despite consistent effort Cortisol signals the body to store energy, particularly in the abdominal area. This can happen even when calories, exercise, and routines are unchanged.

2. Feeling tired but unable to truly rest High cortisol keeps the nervous system in a state of alertness. You may feel exhausted all day yet struggle to wind down at night.

3. Increased hunger late in the day Elevated cortisol disrupts appetite hormones, often causing cravings or hunger in the evening even after adequate meals earlier in the day.

4. Difficulty losing weight during periods of high stress Stress alters insulin sensitivity and fat metabolism. Progress may stall or reverse during emotionally or mentally demanding phases.

5. Brain fog and reduced focus Chronically high cortisol affects areas of the brain responsible for memory, concentration, and decision-making.

6. Frequent bloating or digestive changes Cortisol alters gut motility and blood flow to the digestive system, leading to irregular digestion, discomfort, or food sensitivity.

7. Mood changes you can’t quite explain Irritability, anxiety, low mood, or emotional reactivity can be hormonal responses not personality flaws.

8. Poor recovery from exercise Muscle soreness lasts longer, performance drops, or workouts feel harder than they should. High cortisol interferes with tissue repair and muscle preservation.

9. Sleep that feels unrefreshing Even with enough hours, high nighttime cortisol can prevent deep, restorative sleep leaving you drained the next day.

If weight loss feels unusually resistant, the issue may not be effort, it may be physiology.

Strict Dieting Fails as a Weight Loss Strategy

Cutting out entire food groups, skipping meals, or following rigid rules rarely leads to lasting results.

Instead, it often makes weight loss harder, both physically and mentally.

1. It Turns Eating Into a Struggle Every craving feels like failure. Every deviation triggers guilt. Weight loss becomes about restriction instead of learning sustainable habits.

2. Restriction Fuels Overeating Forbidden foods become more tempting. One “cheat” can spiral into days of overindulging. True control comes from moderation, not elimination.

3. Extreme Plans Don’t Teach Long-Term Habits Short-term success fades once life gets busy, stressful, or unpredictable. Sustainable results come from small, repeatable changes that fit your lifestyle.

4. Flexibility Builds Consistency Focus on portions, balance, and mindful choices. Healthy habits stick when they feel doable, not punishing.

5. Health Over Perfection Energy, mood, sleep, and strength matter more than the scale.

Progress compounds through repeated, realistic choices, not extreme deprivation. Strict dieting might feel like control, but it often leads to burnout and frustration. Lasting weight loss happens when your habits support your life, not restrict it.

How many times has weight loss been at the top of your resolution list?

‎Chances are, it’s been there more than once. And yet, year after year, the results never seem to match the effort.

That’s not because you lack discipline , it’s because most approaches focus on quick fixes instead of understanding how your body, habits, and mindset actually work together.
‎
‎This year, we’re flipping the script. Instead of following another trend or relying on one-size-fits-all advice, we’re looking at what’s really happening inside your body and your daily routines.
‎
‎Small shifts in alignment: the way you move, eat, and think can create a ripple effect that makes lasting change possible.
‎
‎That’s why you need the Alignment Audit. It’s designed to help you identify what’s helping you and what’s holding you back, across three key areas: your body, your brain, and your habits. When all three are working in harmony, progress stops being a struggle and starts becoming a natural part of your day.
‎
‎Follow this series to get insights, strategies, and a clear picture of how your unique system works so you can finally make the changes that stick

If your goal in 2026 is to restart your weight loss, give me 1 minute.
‎
‎You have started before.
‎You followed a plan.
‎You told yourself this time would stick.
‎
‎Then progress slowed.
‎Energy dropped.
‎Life took over.
‎
‎So you paused.
‎Then restarted.
‎Again.
‎That pattern says nothing about your commitment. It says the strategy you were given could not carry you through real life.
‎
‎This time, restart differently.
‎With a clear direction.
‎With guidance that adjusts when things get hard.
‎With support that stays with you beyond the first few weeks.
‎
‎We are opening a weight loss challenge focused on progress you can maintain, not another short-term push. You will receive expert guidance, structure, and ongoing support to help you reach your goal and keep the weight off.

‎🔥 Historic shift in the obesity and weight‑loss treatment space! 🔥
‎
‎The FDA has officially approved the Wegovy pill marking the very first oral GLP‑1 weight‑loss medication cleared for use in adults with obesity or overweight (plus related health conditions).

This isn’t just another headline ,it could reshape how millions think about long‑term weight management.
‎
‎What makes this different from what came before?
‎
1. ‎Instead of weekly shots, this is a once‑daily tablet you take on an empty stomach; a huge deal for people who have shied away from injectable drugs simply because needles are a barrier for them.
‎
2. ‎In late‑stage trials, participants taking the pill lost around double the weight compared with placebo and many lost well over 15% of their body weight over ~15 months. That’s clinically meaningful, not cosmetic.
‎
3. ‎Beyond weight loss, the Wegovy pill also reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events which turns it from a “weight story” into a whole‑body health story.
‎
📌‎For years, GLP‑1 drugs dominated headlines because of how effective they are but uptake was limited by cost, access and the fact that injections are a hurdle.
‎
‎This new pill version could unlock broader adoption, make conversations about metabolic health more mainstream, and push competitors to innovate faster.
‎
‎P.S. Does making powerful weight‑loss meds easier to take change how we approach obesity as a public‑health issue or does it risk overselling a “magic pill”? I’d love to hear what you think below.
