Feeding colostrum doesn’t have to be stressful.

When your baby is learning to latch or take in those first drops of milk, a syringe can be a helpful tool.

Instead of putting colostrum in a bottle (where it can easily get lost or stuck), you can offer it this way:

• Slightly lean baby back for a comfortable position
• Place the ni**le of a bottle in baby’s mouth
• Gently place the syringe in the ni**le
• Slowly push the colostrum through the syringe so baby can drink directly from the ni**le

This allows your baby to receive those important first drops of colostrum in a calm, natural way before transitioning to formula, donor milk, or additional expressed milk if needed.

Every feeding journey looks different, and small tools like this can make a big difference.

If you’re unsure or need support, our lactation consultants can walk you through it step by step.
