Are you visiting Tanzania soon?
You are now required to have proof of travel insurance purchased from the National Insurance Corp, prior to being granted entry.
The new requirement applies to visitors entering Mainland Tanzania through airports, seaports, and land borders under the Insurance (Inbound Travel Insurance) Regulations, 2026.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

• Cost: USD $44 per adult, or the equivalent in Tanzanian shillings
• Validity: Up to 92 days, including multiple entries
• Purchase: Online before departure or upon arrival in Tanzania
• Coverage: Emergency medical treatment, medical evacuation, repatriation, and loss of luggage
• Infants ages 0–2: No charge
• Children ages 3–17: 50% discount
• Groups of 10 or more: Adults receive a 10% discount

WHO IS EXEMPT?
According to current guidance from the National Insurance Corporation of Tanzania (NIC), exemptions include:

• Tanzanian residents
• Holders of valid work or residence permits
• Members of the Tanzanian diaspora
• Diplomats
• Transit passengers
• Residents of EAC or SADC partner states
