Most of my work happens privately — one woman at a time, through telehealth.

On Saturday, that conversation moves to the stage. I'll be speaking on skin, scalp and midlife health at BaldieCon, at the Westin Buckhead Atlanta.

If you're in town this weekend, come find me.

Most women I meet have already tried something. A prescription that helped for a while. A supplement someone recommended. A plan that worked—until it did not.

Trying something is only part of care. What happens next matters, too.

Symptoms, sleep, weight, stress, and health priorities can change. A plan that made sense in January may need adjustment by June.

So we check. We look at what changed, what helped, and what did not. Then we adjust when needed.

Needing an adjustment does not mean you have failed. It means we have more information to guide your care.

At Parks Wellness, follow-up is built into how we work.

"Just stress" is often one of the explanations women hear when symptoms begin to change in midlife. Sometimes stress is part of the picture. But it may not be the whole picture.

At Parks Wellness, care begins with a full evaluation — your symptoms, your history, your health risks, and your goals.

You should not have to reintroduce yourself at every appointment.

There is clinical value in being known over time—in having a physician who understands what your symptoms looked like before treatment, why a particular plan was chosen, and what has changed since.

Midlife health is rarely static. Symptoms may evolve. Priorities can shift. A treatment that was appropriate at one point may need to be adjusted as your body responds.

Continuity gives those changes context.

At Parks Wellness, your care is not passed from one unfamiliar clinician to the next. I review your history, listen closely, and follow your progress so that each visit builds on the one before it.

Because individualized care is more than selecting a treatment.

It is knowing the woman receiving it.

Thoughtful Medicine. Elevated Care.

Women keep finding one another.

Over the past few days, I’ve had several unexpected conversations about midlife health.

One woman shared that she was still experiencing hot flashes years after her final period. She wanted to know whether hormone therapy could still be an option for her—not an automatic yes or no, but a question worthy of an individualized conversation about potential benefits and risks.

Later, while shopping for clothing that would feel cooler and more comfortable, a sales associate began talking openly about her own symptoms and what she had been trying.

Another woman told me she has been reading, saving, and returning to the information I share.

What stayed with me was not simply that these women had questions.

It was the relief that appeared when they realized they did not have to explain why the questions mattered.

Maybe you know that feeling.

You know something has changed, but you are still trying to find the right words for it.

You are not asking for menopause to be the automatic answer.

You are asking for someone to listen, consider the whole picture, and help you understand what may be happening.

Being heard is not a diagnosis.

But it is often where thoughtful care begins.

Women are already having these conversations—in stores, workplaces, homes, and community spaces. They are helping one another find language for changes that were once endured quietly.

The conversation is already happening.

Healthcare needs to catch up.

Your hormone test came back “normal.”

Okay—but that does not get to end the conversation.

You’re awake at 3 a.m. Your period has changed. Your mood, energy, or body does not feel like your own. You know something is different.

Here is the part women are not always told: hormones during perimenopause do not hold still for the blood draw. Estrogen and FSH can fluctuate considerably, so one result may capture a higher day, a lower day, or somewhere in between.

That does not make testing useless. It means the number needs context.

For most women over 45 with a typical presentation, perimenopause is assessed through age, symptoms, menstrual history, medications, medical history, and other possible explanations—not one isolated hormone result.

You are not being dramatic. And you should not have to build a courtroom case to prove that something has changed.

A lab result is a snapshot.

Your health is the story.

If this sounds familiar, I would be glad to hear your story. Visit-request link is in the comments.

You can still have a period every month and be in perimenopause.

That surprises a lot of women.

Perimenopause starts when your cycles begin to change — and early on, that change is easy to miss. A cycle that runs a few days shorter, then a few days longer. You’re still bleeding every month, so nothing looks obviously wrong.

And often what you notice first isn’t your cycle at all.

Sleep may change.
Hot flashes or night sweats may begin.
Mood may feel different.
Headaches may change.
You may notice brain fog, breast tenderness, or changes in how you feel before your period.

Eventually the cycle changes become harder to miss — longer gaps, skipped months. But you don’t have to wait until your periods are dramatically irregular — or gone — before bringing up symptoms that are affecting your life.

And not every symptom in your forties is perimenopause. Thyroid disease, anemia, sleep disorders, medications, mood conditions, and other medical issues can overlap with it.

That’s why naming the transition matters — and so does making sure we’re not blaming everything on it.

If something has changed and you’re wondering whether perimenopause could be part of the picture, we can talk about it. You can book a visit at parkswellness.com.
