Eating mostly whole foods is not restrictive.
Rigid rules around them are.

Calling whole foods ‘restrictive’ without context is misleading—because you can’t tell what’s actually going on just by looking at a plate.

A meal can look “clean” and still be:
rigid
fear-based
unsatisfying
or not enough

And that same plate can also be:
flexible
satisfying
and fully meeting someone’s needs

Restriction isn’t about the foods, it’s about rigidity, fear, and whether your needs are actually being met.

Health includes flexibility, satisfaction, and access — not perfection.

Same plate. Different mindset.

Serving sizes on food labels are standardized amounts set by the Food and Drug Administration based on typical intake patterns, not your individual needs.
They don’t account for your activity level, metabolism, or hunger.

If you’re active, your energy needs are often higher, whether that’s from your job, your workouts, or both.
It’s okay if more than the serving size is what satisfies your hunger.

Use serving sizes as a reference, not a rule. Your body’s signals matter too.

I decided to do something that pushes me outside of my comfort zone… I’m running for Ms. Health & Fitness 🤍

Health and fitness have shaped so much of who I am, not just physically, but mentally and professionally. Through grad school, long days, and life’s challenges, training and nourishing my body have been my anchor. Proper fueling and movement have transformed my energy, performance, and overall health, and I love helping others feel strong, confident, and build a positive relationship with food and their bodies.

If I win, I would use the opportunity to support my master’s degree in nutrition and dietetics so I can continue helping others find joy in movement and nutrition while improving their overall health and well-being. There’s so much misinformation about food and fitness, and I want to guide and empower as many people as possible.

Even more meaningful, this competition supports the B+ Foundation, which provides financial assistance to families, funds childhood cancer research, and raises awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. Competing for such an important cause makes this journey bigger than just me 💛

This hot honey chicken salad makes for a great snack with some chips or crackers, or turned into meal as a toasty sammy or wrap 🤌🏼

You don’t have to use the exact veggies I did, mix it up! Adding a few different veggies is an easy way to boost the nutrition (and the flavor) 😉
