Today, as I was out making deliveries, I stopped by the West Lebanon ballfield to see the progress that has been made and to take a little trip down memory lane. I spent many summers with this view from the visitor dugout as my team battled West Lebanon for the championship title.

It reminded me of the good times I had sitting on the bench while my far more athletic friends and teammates played under the direction of my mother, MarSue Slinker. The Davis Drugs sign sits just slightly toward center field from where I would occasionally get some time in right field, and it is a proud symbol of support for the many memories kids today will make here.

I was very excited to support the reopening of this field and to take a moment to recognize the wonderful men who were the mainstay umpires here. These guys took extra care to teach us while we played, making fun, competitive experiences the goal while keeping safety a top priority. My mother had so much respect for all of you. Thank you to Jim Davis, Marty Blessing, Phil Astell, and Terry Foust for your dedication to this park in the late ’80s and early ’90s!
