The chameleon in me was shaped by the rooms I’ve entered.

The heart in me remembered them.

The chameleon in me was shaped by exposure.

The heart in me remained open enough to receive it.

The chameleon in me was shaped by people.

The heart in me carried their fingerprints.

The chameleon in me was shaped by life.

The heart in me was changed by it.

Each room left something behind.

A lesson.

A scar.

A question.

A memory.

A different way of seeing.

The chameleon in me learned to move.

The heart in me learned to listen.

The chameleon in me adapted.

The heart in me paid attention.

Life leaves fingerprints.

Not because we are weak.

Not because we lack a center.

But because we are touched by what we encounter.

The chameleon in me is not the absence of a heart.

It is evidence that the heart was paying attention.

The heart has broken.
