Some team members recently had the opportunity to attend the annual Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) Meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana. This conference brought together professionals from across the eye banking and corneal transplantation community to learn, collaborate, and share advancements in the field.

We were proud to participate in educational sessions, earn continuing education credits required for CEBT certification, and engage with colleagues dedicated to improving the gift of sight through tissue transplantation. The meeting also provided valuable insights into emerging technologies, best practices, and innovations shaping the future of eye banking.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to continue growing our knowledge and strengthening our commitment to honor and serve donors, recipients, surgeons, and our community. Thank you to for hosting another outstanding event!

Patty had the privilege of meeting Alyssa, the recipient of her daughter’s cornea donation. Both families never expected that one selfless decision would grow into a beautiful bond. It's a reminder of the profound impact that kindness and generosity can have on each of our lives. They are forever grateful for their connection made possible through eye donation.

Glimmer thinks you might be surprised to learn that almost anyone, of any age, can be an eye donor. Unlike many other types of donations, the blood type of the donor does not need to match that of the recipient.
This makes eye donation more accessible, allowing more people to contribute to this life-changing cause. In fact, more individuals qualify to be eye donors than any other type of transplant donor! Even if the eye tissue cannot be used for a transplant, with consent, it can still serve vital purposes in medical education and research. Learn more in our blog, 'Who Can Be An Eye Donor?' 👇
