Babies cry, spit up, or have trouble sleeping… and as parents, it can feel overwhelming. 😩

Sometimes these challenges aren’t “behavior problems” or colic at all — they can be a sign that a baby’s nervous system is still learning to adapt after birth.

During delivery, a baby’s head, neck, and spine go through significant forces. For some babies, this may temporarily affect how the nervous system communicates with the body.

Supporting the nervous system early can help babies:
🧠 Feed and latch more efficiently
🧠 Sleep more soundly
🧠 Digest comfortably
🧠 Settle and calm easier

This doesn’t mean your baby is “broken.” It’s about giving their nervous system the support it needs to regulate and thrive. 🤍

At Caim Chiropractic in Austin, we focus on gentle, neurologically based care for babies and children to support healthy development from the very start.

If you want to help your baby’s nervous system adapt early, you can book an appointment online anytime through the link in our profile.

Many parents assume birth stress comes from one specific complication during delivery.

But often, it’s not just one factor — it’s when several things happen together that can place added strain on a baby’s developing nervous system.

During birth, a baby’s head and neck already experience strong mechanical forces as they move through the birth canal. In certain situations, additional factors can increase the amount of pressure placed on the spine and nervous system.

Some of these may include:
• Prolonged or difficult labor
• Breech or posterior positioning
• Larger babies navigating a smaller maternal pelvis
• Induction medications that intensify contractions
• Assisted delivery (vacuum or forceps)
• Cesarean delivery
• Umbilical cord tension around the neck

Many of these are necessary and play an important role in ensuring a safe delivery.

At the same time, they can introduce added physical stress on a baby’s upper cervical spine and nervous system.

This area contains important neurological pathways that help coordinate communication between the brain and body — especially for functions like:

🧠 Feeding coordination
🧠 Digestion
🧠 Sleep patterns
🧠 Nervous system regulation

When excess tension affects this region, it may influence how efficiently the nervous system communicates and adapts.

Some babies adjust quickly, while others may take more time for their systems to settle after birth.

This doesn’t mean something is “wrong.”

But it does highlight how closely birth experiences and early nervous system function are connected.

Neurologically focused chiropractic care evaluates the neurospinal system to identify areas where stress may be affecting communication within the body.

By supporting nervous system function, the body may be better able to adapt, regulate, and develop. 🤍

At Caim Chiropractic, we focus on helping babies and families support nervous system health from the very beginning.

If your baby experienced a challenging birth — or you simply want to support their development early on — we’re here as a resource.

When people talk about pregnancy health, the focus is usually on things like:

• Prenatal vitamins
• Nutrition
• Ultrasounds
• Preparing for delivery

All important but there’s something often overlooked:

🧠 Baby’s nervous system.

And one of the biggest influences on that development is mom’s nervous system.

During pregnancy, mom and baby are deeply connected. NUTRIENTS, OXYGEN, and even HORMONAL SIGNALS are shared.

When stress occurs, the body releases cortisol. Short bursts are normal but ongoing stress can keep levels elevated.

While the placenta helps protect baby, chronic stress can allow more of those signals to pass through.

Why does this matter?????

Because pregnancy is when baby’s brain and nervous system are being built including areas responsible for:

• Stress regulation
• Sleep
• Digestion
• Immune function
• Emotional responses

This doesn’t mean you need to eliminate stress completely that’s not realistic.

PREGNANCY comes with a lot. Your body isn’t failing it’s adapting.

That’s why supporting your nervous system can make such a meaningful difference.

Neurologically focused prenatal chiropractic care helps shift the body out of constant fight-or-flight and into a more balanced, regulated state.

And when mom is more regulated, it helps create a healthier environment for baby, too. 🤍

If you’re pregnant and want to support your nervous system during this season, we’re here for you.
