Pregnancy changes everything about how your body moves.

Your posture shifts. Your pelvis becomes more mobile. Your center of gravity changes almost weekly. Your muscles have to work differently, and your joints experience forces they've never handled before. 🤰

Yet despite all of these changes...

Not every pregnant woman develops sciatica.

That's an important clue.

If the growing baby or normal pregnancy changes were the only cause, we'd expect nearly every mom to experience the same level of sciatic pain.

Instead, everybody responds differently.

The nervous system plays a huge role in helping your body adapt to pregnancy. It coordinates muscle tone, movement, balance, and stability as your body changes over the course of nine months.

When those adaptations become less efficient, the body often starts relying on compensation patterns. Over time, those compensations can increase stress on the low back, pelvis, and tissues surrounding the sciatic nerve making pain much more likely.

That doesn't mean pregnancy is "going wrong."

It means your body may need more support adapting to all the changes it's experiencing. 💛

At Caim Chiropractic, we take a neurologically focused approach to pregnancy care. Rather than chasing symptoms alone, we evaluate how the nervous system is functioning and work to support the body's natural ability to adapt throughout pregnancy.

Whether you're preparing for birth, struggling with sciatic pain, or simply want to move through pregnancy with more comfort, we're here to help.

One of the hardest things a parent can hear is:

“Everything looks normal.”

Because if you’re still going home to…

• A child who can’t fall asleep 😴
• Daily meltdowns that seem to come out of nowhere 😭
• Constant constipation 💩
• Big emotional reactions
• Difficulty focusing at school 📚
• Sensory overwhelm

…it doesn’t feel normal.

And that disconnect can leave parents feeling frustrated, confused, and wondering whether they’re imagining things.

💛 You’re not.

Here’s something that’s important to understand:

Many medical tests are designed to answer one very important question:

“Is there disease, injury, or something structurally wrong?”

Those tests are incredibly valuable, and we’re grateful they exist.

But they aren’t designed to tell us how well the nervous system is functioning.

The nervous system controls and coordinates nearly everything your child does — from sleep and digestion to emotional regulation, focus, immune function, and development.

That means it’s possible for a child to have “normal” lab work or imaging while still struggling with how their body is functioning day to day.

That’s exactly why we use INSiGHT Scans in our office.

These gentle, non-invasive scans don’t diagnose medical conditions. Instead, they help us objectively measure how your child’s nervous system is functioning, adapting to stress, and communicating with the rest of the body.

Because when we understand function, we can stop guessing.

At Caim Chiropractic, we believe parents deserve more than being told to “wait and see.”

They deserve answers.

They deserve to understand why their child may be struggling.

📍 If you’ve been told everything is “normal,” but your gut says something still isn’t right, we’d love to help.

If your child has seen specialist after specialist and you’re still leaving appointments without real answers — this post is for you. 💛

What most conventional care misses is this: when a child has dysautonomia, their symptoms aren’t separate problems. They’re one problem showing up in multiple places at the same time.

Here’s why that matters 👇
The Autonomic Nervous System controls the functions your body runs automatically — heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, temperature, immune response, sleep, and stress regulation. You don’t think about any of these. They’re just supposed to happen.
When this system becomes dysregulated, it doesn’t just affect one area. It affects all of them simultaneously. 🔄

That’s why a child with dysautonomia might have a cardiologist managing their heart rate, a GI doctor managing their gut, a neurologist managing their headaches, and a therapist managing their anxiety. Yet none of those providers may be talking to each other because, from the outside, these can look like four unrelated problems.

They’re not.

The gut slows down because the parasympathetic nervous system — the “rest and digest” branch — isn’t activating properly. 🫁

The anxiety feels physical because the body is genuinely stuck in a stress response, not because something is psychologically wrong.

The fatigue doesn’t improve with sleep because the body isn’t actually recovering during sleep — it’s still running in high-alert mode.

The sensory overload happens because the Autonomic Nervous System is heavily involved in how the brain processes sensory input.

One root. Many branches.

This is also why dysautonomia is so frequently missed — because it’s a functional condition. The problem is in how the system is working, not in how it looks on a test. Standard labs and imaging aren’t designed to measure autonomic function. So kids get told they’re fine, sent home, and the cycle continues. 😔

At Caim Chiropractic + Functional Medicine in Austin, we use neurological INSiGHT scans to measure how the Autonomic Nervous System is actually functioning — and build care around what we find, not just what showed up on the last referral.

If you’ve ever worried…

“Am I too stressed?”
“Is my baby affected by everything I’m going through?”
“Am I doing enough?”

First — take a breath. 🤍

This conversation is not about creating more fear or making moms feel responsible for every stressful moment.

Pregnancy is a huge transition.

Your body is changing. Your hormones are shifting. Your emotions can feel stronger. You’re preparing for one of the biggest experiences of your life.

Stress is a normal part of being human.

The important question isn’t:

❌ “How do I avoid every stressful situation?”

Because that’s impossible.

A more empowering question is:

✨ “How well is my body able to adapt, regulate, and recover?”

Your nervous system plays an important role in helping your body respond to the world around you. It helps coordinate your stress response, recovery, and ability to adapt to changes — including the many changes that happen throughout pregnancy.

Your baby is growing in an environment that is constantly influenced by your body’s internal signals.

That doesn’t mean you have to be calm every second.

It means supporting your own health matters.

Healthy habits like nourishing your body, getting quality rest, staying active, building supportive relationships, and finding ways to regulate stress all contribute to a stronger foundation during pregnancy. 🤰

At Caim Chiropractic, we take a neurologically focused approach to prenatal care. We use INSiGHT Nervous System Scans to evaluate how your nervous system is functioning and adapting, helping us better understand how your body is handling the demands of pregnancy.

Because you don’t have to strive for a perfect pregnancy.

You deserve support through a healthy one.

If you’re pregnant and feeling overwhelmed…

Take a deep breath.

This post is not here to make you feel guilty. 🤍

Pregnancy is filled with excitement, but it’s also filled with uncertainty.

You might be juggling work deadlines, caring for other children, preparing for birth, navigating relationship changes, worrying about finances, or simply trying to get through another day of nausea and exhaustion.

Stress is a normal part of being human.

The goal isn’t to never feel stressed.

The goal is to help your body recover from stress instead of remaining stuck in it.

When stress becomes chronic, your nervous system can stay in a heightened state for longer than it’s meant to. Over time, this may influence how your body adapts during pregnancy and contribute to challenges like increased muscle tension, headaches, back pain, sciatica, digestive changes, and difficulty sleeping.

That’s one of the reasons we care so much about nervous system regulation during pregnancy.

Along with healthy habits like movement, nutrition, rest, and mindfulness, supporting the nervous system can be another important part of helping your body adapt to the incredible changes of pregnancy.

At Caim Chiropractic, we begin with INSiGHT Nervous System Scans to better understand how your nervous system is functioning and adapting to stress. From there, we create a personalized plan of neurologically focused chiropractic care designed to support your body’s natural ability to regulate throughout pregnancy.

From the outside, your child might look perfectly healthy.

But you see what others don’t.

💛 The bedtime battles.
💛 The constant meltdowns.
💛 The sensory overload.
💛 The difficulty focusing.
💛 The chronic constipation.
💛 The child who always seems “on edge.”

When people don’t see those struggles, it’s easy to hear things like…

“They’ll grow out of it.”

“Every kid does that.”

“Everything looks normal.”

But just because something isn’t visible doesn’t mean it isn’t real.

One of the nervous system’s most important jobs is helping the body adapt to everyday stress. It coordinates communication between the brain and the rest of the body, influencing everything from sleep and digestion to emotional regulation, focus, and movement.

When that communication isn’t functioning as efficiently as it should, children may begin showing signs that something is off — even when nothing obvious appears on the outside.

That’s why we use INSiGHT Scans.

These gentle, non-invasive scans help us objectively measure how the nervous system is functioning and adapting to stress. They don’t diagnose conditions, but they do provide valuable information about what may be happening beneath the surface so we can better understand your child’s unique needs.

Because parents deserve more than being told to “wait and see.”

They deserve to understand why their child may be struggling.

📍 At Caim Chiropractic in Austin, we specialize in neurologically focused chiropractic care for babies, children, and families. Every new patient begins with INSiGHT Scans because we believe understanding the nervous system is the first step toward helping the body function at its best.

✨ If your child is struggling and you’ve been searching for answers, we’d love to be a resource. Schedule your consultation online to learn more about our neurologically focused approach.

Have you ever noticed that your child’s challenges seem to come in groups?

Maybe they don’t just struggle with sleep…

They also have frequent meltdowns.

Or constipation.

Or difficulty focusing.

Or sensory sensitivities.

Many parents assume these are all separate issues that each need their own solution.

💛 But what if they’re actually connected?

The nervous system is responsible for coordinating communication between the brain and every organ, muscle, and tissue in the body. That means it plays an important role in functions like sleep, digestion, emotional regulation, attention, movement, and so much more.

When the nervous system is functioning efficiently, these systems are better able to communicate and adapt to everyday stress.

When it’s under stress or not adapting as well, the body may begin expressing that through multiple symptoms — not because the symptoms are causing one another, but because they’re all being influenced by the same underlying system.

This is why we encourage parents to stop looking at symptoms as random, isolated problems.

Instead, we ask:

“What is my child’s body trying to tell us?”

That’s also why every new patient at Caim Chiropractic begins with INSiGHT Scans. These safe, non-invasive scans help us objectively evaluate how the nervous system is functioning and adapting to stress, giving us a clearer understanding of what may be happening beneath the surface.

Because our goal isn’t simply to quiet symptoms.

It’s to understand why they’re happening in the first place and help the nervous system function the way it was designed to.

✨ If your child has multiple challenges that seem unrelated, they may be more connected than you realize. Schedule your consultation online and let us help you uncover the “why” behind the symptoms.

08/14/2026

As parents, we’re constantly paying attention to the little things.

“Did they sleep better last night?”

“Have the meltdowns improved?”

“Are they getting sick less often?”

Those observations matter — they’re often the first signs that something is changing.

But they don’t tell the whole story.

That’s why every new patient at Caim Chiropractic begins with INSiGHT Scans.

These scans are safe, gentle, and non-invasive. Rather than diagnosing medical conditions, they provide objective information about how the nervous system is functioning and adapting to stress.

Why does that matter?

Because symptoms can fluctuate from day to day. A child may have a great week followed by a difficult one, making it hard to know whether their nervous system is truly becoming more adaptable or if they’re simply having a good day.

By measuring nervous system function, we have another way to evaluate progress alongside the changes you notice at home.

It allows us to:

✨ Establish a meaningful baseline.
✨ Personalize care based on how your child’s nervous system is functioning.
✨ Monitor changes over time instead of relying on guesswork alone.

As parents, you deserve to understand what’s happening beneath the surface — not just hope things are improving.

At Caim Chiropractic, our goal isn’t to chase symptoms. It’s to better understand your child’s nervous system so we can provide thoughtful, neurologically focused care tailored to their needs.

Here’s something that surprises a lot of parents: clearing the infection doesn’t always mean the reaction stops. 💊

Your body has a built-in brake pedal system that’s supposed to step in once an infection is handled — calming everything back down and returning things to normal. When that brake pedal is working well, that’s exactly what happens.

But sometimes that brake isn’t working the way it should, often because the nervous system has already been under stress for a while. When that’s the case, the body can stay stuck in overdrive even after the germ is gone. The infection triggered it, but the nervous system is what determines how long the reaction sticks around. ⚡

This is why some kids seem to “get better” on paper — tests come back clear and the illness is treated — but their behavior, mood, or focus still isn’t back to normal. The missing piece isn’t another round of treatment for the infection. It’s giving the nervous system support to actually calm down. 🌿

This is exactly what we focus on at Caim — helping the body find its way back to baseline, not just clearing what triggered it. 🧠💛

If your child’s reactions to illness feel bigger or last longer than they should, we’re here to help you understand why. Book a free consult today!
