Winter ice storm prep gets especially involved when you’ve got lots of garden beds and plants to cover and bring in. Duke is our special helper, he’s 15 years wise so you can trust he did a solid job to tuck those plants in. We have beds in the backyard, and in a community garden down the street, along with innumerous containers that all get taken inside. Our tree house transforms to an indoor jungle. At the farm herbs and flowers are tucked away safe and sound under freeze cloth and mulch. Nasturtiums did not make it, except for one strong one I am hoping survives above all odds. (You can do it lil friend!)

The drying rack is full of a menagerie of medicinal herbs trimmed back a bit before the frost- just in case 👀
In the last pic you can see what hard work this is for creatures who live to be cozy, so that’s where we’re at.

In the meantime, we are drinking Draught of Nourishment nutritive tea blend, testing out our hot cacao blends diligently, and dreaming up some nutritive soup/broth herb mixes for you.

May your tea and soup be full of ginger and rosemary this weekend!!

I woke up sneezing, so it’s time for this quick allergy/cold post.

If you are also sneezy, feeling extra phlegmy, or like a human faucet, we have some help for you to help make life a bit easier.

Remember to give your immune system extra love during this time, allergies are already taxing your immune system and this tends to be the time that allergies turn into sinus infections or colds.

We also have the classic tonics of fire cider elderberry syrup in the fridge at the farmstand if that’s your pleasure.

If you tend to get really bad allergies, consider looking my st your diet and the load on your liver. Dairy and sugar add to your congestion and limiting or removing them around this time can make a huge difference in being able to breathe easier. It may be a good time to limit or remove alcohol to give your liver a break so it can focus on processing that histamine through. Give your liver a little extra love, and help ease your allergy symptoms.

Getting close to Christmas, and this Saturday December 20th will be my last market at the Eden East Farmstand. We’ll be dishing out herbs and cold brew since it’s going to be a warm Yuletide.

I love these herbal gift baskets for your last minute gifting needs- they come with a handmade card and gift tag, blank and ready for you to customize. All the gift materials are made from upcycled and thrifted stuff so as not to add to extra holiday consumerism waste. You can still pre order some gifts, including these baskets on my website with the code GUINEAPIG2025 for 20% off the order- pick up at the Bastrop Eden east Farmstand on Saturday 9-1pm. If you need something else we can try and arrange that, just shoot me a message. Thanks folks!

3 Dreams for you 🌙💭

1-because that ethereal snap of Tagetes lucida in the beginning of bloom is worth a permanent spot. Mexican mint marigold has been a close friend this past year.

2– I’ve been recalling long, vivid dreams as of late-I’ve also been working with my garden mugwort and other herbs for a few Dreamtime blends. They inform each other. Eating lots of lions mane helps.

3- Texas is stringing us along, but the gift of cool mornings and a couple chilly days, paired with a bit of a jostle to the ol noggin has given me some inspiration and a circle back to a facet of myself I enjoy more.

in conclusion- Hope I see you at the Eden East market and fall fest on Saturday.

If there are other markets you think I should vend at- I will soon have a variety of new wares in time for holidays I’m excited to share.
