One of the most common questions people on GLP-1 medications have is about protein.
How much do I need? Am I getting enough? Does it matter more now than it did before?
The answers are more nuanced than what most people find online — and they matter more on a GLP medication than most prescribing providers have time to explain.
We cover protein in depth in the Wilfong Nutrition GLP Packet, including what the research actually says, how to find a realistic starting point for your body, and which sources tend to work best when appetite is suppressed.

If you are on a GLP medication like Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, or Zepbound, you have probably noticed that eating feels different. Hunger is quieter. Fullness comes faster. And the guidance from your prescribing provider on what to actually eat? Often minimal.

We put together a free GLP Side Effect Guide to help fill that gap. It covers the most common side effects including nausea, constipation, reflux, fatigue, and hair changes. What is actually happening in your body and what tends to help nutritionally.

No diet rules. No calorie goals. Just honest, evidence-based information to help you nourish your body and feel your best.

Orthorexia often gets missed, not because the signs aren't there, but because they look like dedication.
Carefully reading every label. Avoiding entire food categories. Declining social invitations because of what might be served. From the outside it can look like someone who is really committed to their health.
But when the pursuit of eating well becomes a source of significant distress, dominates your thoughts, or starts affecting your relationships and daily life, something more than dedication is happening.
Orthorexia is not currently recognized as a formal diagnosis — but the distress it causes is very real. And it is something we work with.
If this resonates, we would love to hear from you.

Something we hear more than you might think:
"I want to stop obsessing over food and just eat normally. But I also have prediabetes. Or I am on a GLP medication. Or I have a history of restricting. Does that mean intuitive eating is not for me?"
It does not.
Wanting food freedom and caring about your health are not opposing goals. The belief that they are is one of the most damaging things diet culture has produced.
Eating in a way that feels sustainable, nourishing, and free from guilt is not reckless. For many people it is the most health-promoting thing they can do, because the alternative — decades of restriction, guilt, and cycling through diets — has a real cost on both physical and mental health.
Research on intuitive eating consistently shows associations with improved wellbeing, reduced disordered eating, and for many people, better metabolic markers too.
You are allowed to want both. They are not mutually exclusive.

Memorial Day weekend is here — and with it comes the inevitable: comments about what's on your plate, jokes about "earning" your food, and maybe some internal guilt about eating the burger instead of the salad. 🍔
Here's our reminder: you don't have to earn your food. You don't have to "be good" before a holiday or "make up for it" after.
Eating is allowed to be enjoyable. Connection is part of nourishment. The cookout food is part of a life well-lived.
Have a wonderful long weekend — from all of us at Wilfong Nutrition. 💚

"I've been so bad with food lately." "You look amazing — did you lose weight?" "I really shouldn't eat this."
Sound familiar? This is diet talk — and it's everywhere. At work, at family dinners, on social media. And the research is clear: it causes real harm.
I cannot think of one good thing that comes from diet talk. I have only heard clients describe how harmful it has been in their lives — how it made them feel ashamed, obsessive, or less at home in their own bodies.
In this post I share 5 practical ways to recognize and redirect diet talk in your everyday life — without being preachy about it. 💚

Raise your hand if you've believed at least one of these. 🙋‍♀️
I hear these beliefs from clients every single week — and none of them are your fault. Diet culture is loud, persistent, and profitable. Here are 5 things it told you that simply aren't true:
1. Carbs are bad for you.
Carbohydrates are your brain and body's preferred source of fuel. Cutting them out doesn't make you healthier — it makes you exhausted, foggy, and obsessed with the foods you're avoiding.
2. You need to earn your food.
You don't burn calories at the gym to "deserve" dinner. Eating is a basic human need — not a reward system.
3. Skipping meals helps you lose weight faster.
Skipping meals leads to intense hunger, poor energy, and usually eating past fullness later. Your body works better when it's fed consistently — not punished.
4. Healthy eating has to be complicated.
Real nourishment is far simpler than diet culture suggests.
5. If you just had more willpower, you'd be thin.
Willpower has nothing to do with it. Restriction leads to obsession. That's biology — not a character flaw.
