Have you ever gone to the doctor for a missing period and left feeling even more confused, with a diagnosis that didn’t quite seem right?

It happens all the time sadly :(

That’s exactly why we created our Lab Guide. Not so you can diagnose yourself, but so you can compare your labs, better understand what you’re looking at, and gain more clarity and confidence in the process.

If you would like a copy of the lab guide comment LAB GUIDE.

Lab work in HA recovery: What you actually need to know

A lot of people think that because Hypothalamic Amenorrhea (HA) is a hormone issue, we must rely heavily on lab work. The truth?

Labs are just a tool, they don’t guide recovery.

Here’s how we use them:
✅ Initial labs: To confirm HA and rule out other causes (like POI) before starting.

✅ Baseline markers: LH & FSH, and estrogen levels to understand where you’re starting.

⚠️ Progress tracking? Not through labs, we rely on your Fertility Awareness Method (FAM) chart, which is usually more accurate than lab testing.

🛑 Labs only come into play later only if someone is fully committed and consistent, just to double-check what your chart is already showing.

Bottom line: Labs confirm your starting point. Your chart tells the story of your recovery.

Our work is based on what your body is actually doing, not just numbers on paper.

Key points we cover in this conversation:
-Why lab work is necessary for diagnosing HA
-The history and evolution of lab testing in our practice
-Key lab markers (LH, FSH, etc.)
-When lab work stops being helpful in recovery
-How labs relate to client commitment and accountability
-Critiques of at-home FEM tech devices (Mira, Inito)
-Limitations of extensive lab panels (e.g., Dutch testing)
