Access Vine, a deaf woman-owned company specializing in providing services for deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing nationwide announced a collaboration with the Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC) Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (ODHHS) to administer the HHSC Region 7 contract providing access and technology services for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Amanda Tuite came up with the vision of Access Vine several years ago when she realized, "Imagine living in a world where no one knows your language and you must navigate through public challenges such as employment, medical care, public services, and your social life." Access Vine's focus is working with business entities to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities including people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind. Businesses, individuals, and entities interested in receiving services to ensure communication access and inclusion for the deaf and hard of hearing or late-deafened populations are encouraged to contact Access Vine via our website www.accessvine.co or email us: [email protected].

It was so wonderful connecting with everyone at the Greater Houston Deaf Expo last Saturday! 🎉

Our AV Team, Termiea and Dr. Latoya, had an amazing time at Access Vine booth, meeting new faces, reconnecting with familiar ones, holding babies (yes, you read that right! Termiea even got some baby cuddles! 👶🥰), and sharing what Access Vine is all about! 🌱

🌿 Introducing our newest advocate, Dr. Latoya Dixon! 🤟✨

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Latoya Dixon to Access Vine team as our new Access Specialist serving Houston, Tyler, and surrounding communities!

Dr. Dixon brings a wealth of experience in disability rights, communication access, vocational rehabilitation, education, and self-advocacy. As a Black Deaf woman and advocate, she combines her lived experience, professional expertise, and research to help Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, and late-deafened individuals navigate barriers and advocate for meaningful access.

Her passion for advocacy comes from empowering individuals and families to understand their rights, strengthen their self-advocacy skills, and find communication access solutions in healthcare, education, employment, and everyday life.

We’re proud to welcome Dr. Dixon to our village and expand Access Vine’s support across Houston and East Texas. 💚🌱

A successful school year begins with having the right support in place. Whether you’re a student, parent, or educator, planning ahead can make all the difference.
