As a non-diet GI dietitian, there are a lot of things I don’t do in session because I don’t want to retraumatize people around food and their bodies.

I don’t:❌ hand you a giant list of “bad foods”❌ assume weight loss is the goal❌ shame emotional eating or convenience foods❌ expect perfection❌ ignore your culture, traditions, or favorite foods/textures❌ push restrictive diets without support or context❌ make symptom management feel like punishment❌ overlook the overlap between GI issues & disordered eating❌ give one-size-fits-all recommendations❌ believe healing requires obsessing over every bite
✅ Instead, I help you understand your symptoms, nourish your body, and build a way of eating that actually works for your real life.
My approach is:✨ food-first✨ culturally inclusive✨ weight-inclusive✨ realistic & sustainable✨ centered around meeting you where you are
If you’re tired of feeling confused about what to eat or feel like your relationship with food has become smaller because of your gut symptoms, let’s talk 💛

Which IBS Met Gala celeb do you relate to most?

😬 Are you terrified to eat with IBS?

So was my last IBS Food Freedom client!

🤦🏽‍♀️ Her GI doctor diagnosed her with IBS and handed her a Low FODMAP “avoid” list.

(FYI: I think the world of Gastroenterologists!

Y’all are doing life saving work to help patients with digestive issues every day!

But the key here is referring to dietitians to support your patients in implementing dietary & lifestyle modifications to better support their quality of life with IBS.)

That was it.

❌ No explanation of what to eat.
❌ No guidance on how to build meals.
❌No discussion of stress, sleep, hydration, or movement.
Just a list.

😲 So she started eliminating.
Garlic. Onion. Apples. Bread. Beans. Dairy.

❌ Then she cut more because she was still bloated.

Soon she was scared of restaurants.
Scared of family dinners.
Scared of trying new foods.

🫩 She was exhausted, under-eating, and convinced her body was broken.

She didn’t need another food list.

✅She needed structure.✅She needed reassurance.
✅She needed someone to show her what & how to eat.✅She needed support through reintroductions.✅She needed nervous system work alongside nutrition.

💁🏽‍♀️That’s the difference between Googling IBS and working with a digestive health dietitian.

👩🏽‍💻There is so much information about what to eliminate on the Low FODMAP diet. But almost no one teaches you how to nourish your body while doing it.

😣If you’re feeling lost, confused, or afraid to eat, you’re not failing.

You’re just trying to follow a list without a roadmap.

🥝 I’m currently accepting new clients inside my 12-Week IBS Food Freedom Package.

🫱🏽‍🫲🏼You don’t have to figure this out alone.

May is Celiac Disease Awareness Month, so we’re saying this a little louder for the people in the back:

📣 Celiac disease is NOT a “just eat around it” situation.
❌ It’s not a diet trend. It’s not gluten-free for funsies.
➡️ It’s a medically necessary way of eating (GF diet) that impacts every single part of life.

What people don’t always see:
🧠 The mental gymnastics of planning every meal
🙅🏽‍♀️ The “no, just one bite” conversations on repeat
😫 The symptoms that go way beyond the gut like brain fog, joint pain, migraines, and fatigue
🌾 And the fact that gluten-free isn’t optional, even when it’s inconvenient, expensive, or exhausting
✅ We didn’t choose this lifestyle. It chose us.

🥐 And yes, we still eat carbs. We’re just out here trying to find versions that don’t wreck our bodies.

🗓️ Also, join us .ibs.dietitian & LIVE on May 12th at 12pm as we talk about what it’s really like to be diagnosed with celiac disease, the signs and symptoms to watch for, and when it’s time to seek help. Drop your burning questions and we’ll answer them live!

💬 Now let’s talk:
🤔 What is ONE thing you wish more people understood about celiac disease or gluten-free living? Drop it in the comments 👇

April recap: What I learned from a month packed with IBS awareness and advocacy 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

This month I
👩🏽‍⚖️ Celebrated the proclamation for World IBS Day to be recognized in Austin at Austin City Hall
💩 Connected with GI clinicians across Austin
🥝 Attended the Scrubs N Heels Leadership Summit & chatted with clinicians about IBS + disordered eating
👩🏽‍💻 Supported clients 1:1 with nutrition counseling to reduce IBS flares, identify food triggers, expand their diet, overcome food fears, and improve their relationship with food.

And one thing was clear:👇🏽

People with IBS are still being dismissed, undiagnosed, or stuck in cycles of restriction.

😱 I actually wrote a new blog for the first time in ages and broke down
➡️ what IBS really is
➡️ why it’s missed
➡️ how to actually support your gut
➡️ what I kept hearing from GI clinicians

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend a meaningful event at Austin City Hall recognizing World IBS Days (April 17–19) and advocating for individuals living with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

It was truly an honor to connect with the team at Austin Gastroenterology alongside Ardelyx in support of this important initiative.

This proclamation helps bring much-needed visibility to a condition that affects millions of people, yet is still so often misunderstood, overlooked, or left undiagnosed.

As IBS Awareness Month comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on how important these conversations are. Awareness is just the beginning. What really matters is what we continue to do with it: listening, educating, and making care more accessible and compassionate for those living with IBS every day.

These are conversations I’m grateful to be part of, and they don’t end here.

I used to think travel = automatic constipation. 💩

Like it was just part of the deal… new place, new routine, and suddenly my gut forgets how to function 🙃

👠 But this trip to the Scrubs n Heels Leadership Summit felt different.

I didn’t overhaul my routine or try anything extreme.

🫶🏽 I just stayed consistent in small, intentional ways that actually support digestion.

⏰ I woke up early so I could eat breakfast without rushing.

Not because I “had to,” but because my gut does better with a rhythm.

🥝 Think kiwi, berries, Greek yogurt, granola… sometimes oatmeal.

👌🏽 Simple, familiar, fiber-forward.

I walked every evening with my girlfriends around the resort. 👟

Nothing intense. Just movement, laughter, and letting my body unwind after long days. 😌

💃🏻 I wore clothes that didn’t make me hyper-aware of my stomach.

Because the more I fixate on bloating, the worse it feels. 💨

💧 I stayed hydrated (my Owala did not leave my side), prioritized sleep, and yes…

I fully used the hotel trashcan as a foot stool when needed. 🗑️

No shame in supporting your anatomy 😌

🍫 And I kept a few go-to snacks I tolerate to help me stay nourished and avoid hangry vibes.

Nothing fancy. Nothing restrictive. Just giving my body what it needed.

💩 And my gut? It showed up for me.

What’s something YOU always keep in your travel toolkit to avoid constipation? ✈️💩

Is your GLP-1 wrecking your gut? 🫩

If you’re on a GLP-1 (ozempic, wegovy, mounjaro, Zepbound, etc.) or other weight loss medication and dealing with nausea, reflux, constipation, low energy, or struggling to eat enough, 😫 you’re not the only one.

💩 These medications can significantly impact digestion and nutrition.

😱 Without the right support, they can also affect muscle, bone, and overall health.

🥝 You deserve to feel better and stay nourished.

👩🏽‍💻 I offer one-on-one, weight-inclusive virtual nutrition support to help you manage side effects, protect your relationship with food, and take care of your body without food stress or rigid food rules.

🫶🏽 If you want personalized, compassionate support while on these medications, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
