Does your ear feel clogged after swimming? That blocked sensation is often caused by water trapped in the ear canal.

A simple way to help is to gently tilt your head toward the affected side and lightly pull on your earlobe. This can help open the ear canal and allow the water to drain naturally.

Avoid putting cotton swabs, your finger, or other objects into your ear. These can push earwax deeper into the canal, increase irritation, and even raise your risk of injury or infection.

If the clogged feeling doesn’t improve, or you develop ear pain, drainage, hearing changes, or symptoms lasting more than a day or two, it’s time to be evaluated by an ENT specialist.
