Confession post: I am very lazy.

Those that know me may not agree. Those that know me really well know I’m not totally lying here. If it was up to me I would start everyday on my outside couch drinking coffee until 11a.

HOWEVER, I have now reached the age if I don’t move, I hurt. So, I move even when I don’t want to.

I, also, am not great at self motivation. So, I rope my friends into doing things with me so I have no excuses.

This morning is a great example. My sweet friend Kaleigh and I (and a few more friends) have decided to do the Spa Girl Super Sprint Tri in September. I need to train. We decided last night we would get up and ride 5miles and “run” 1/2 mile at 8a. I woke up and did NOT want to do it. I secretly hoped Kaleigh would cancel on me. She did not. I am so very grateful. I forgot how much I enjoy riding my bike!

The point of this post? If you have goals you want to reach and are struggling finding the motivation, grab a friend. It’s more fun and definitely a lot more motivating!!!

Funny how life comes full circle.

Thirty years ago, I came to Austin from Kansas City to visit my brother and celebrate my birthday. While out to dinner, I met a sweet woman named Gina. She asked what I did for work and then asked if I had ever had a massage. I hadn’t. She suggested I book one as a birthday treat for myself.

At the time, I was waiting tables, enjoying life, but I didn’t have a clear direction for my future.

Then I got that massage.

The moment it was over, I sat up and knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life. It was one of those rare moments of absolute clarity. Three months later, I enrolled in massage therapy school.

Today, life has come full circle. I now live in Austin, and this week I had the privilege of receiving another incredible massage from Gina—30 years after that first one changed the course of my life.

What a gift. What a reunion. And what a reminder that one small interaction can completely change the direction of a person’s life.

Thank you, Gina, for helping me discover my calling all those years ago. ❤️
