Autism doesn’t have one look, one personality, or one type of interest.

A lot of people still unconsciously associate autism with narrow stereotypes: male, white, introversion, technical interests, low charisma. So when an autistic person doesn’t match that image, people assume they aren’t autistic.

Being funny, expressive, stylish, or socially skilled does not cancel out autism. It simply means autistic people are human beings with a wide range of personalities and presentations.

Late diagnosis can brings clarity but also grief and confusion. Moving into the identity integration stage can change everything you know about your life. So this is the point where you might start making big decisions: what you can do, what you won't do. Who you say no to, who you say yes to.
It's not just self acceptance. It's reworking your relationships around it. And from here, another life can begin.

You might hear about an interest in structure for ADHD, autism, and AuDHD. But how does it differ for the three?

- ADHD often uses structure as an external container for memory and follow through.
- Autism tends to find structure regulating. It lowers overwhelm and supports predictability.
- AuDHD can want structure but struggle to maintain it. Building it can be exciting but the upkeep can be really hard.

Understanding which driver is yours changes how you set and maintain systems in your life.

It’s AAPHI Month. Being Asian American and ADHD autistic can change how diagnosis is understood and shared. In many East Asian cultures, silence is a core part of communication that supports the collective. Disclosure around neurodivergence isn’t always an option because of how it can impact the larger group.

The absence of Asian voices in neurodivergent spaces doesn’t mean there’s a low rate of ADHD or autism. It just reflects the complexity of navigating multiple identities across cultures.

Dating is hard enough when you’re ADHD autistic. Ghosting makes it even more frustrating because you don’t have answers to close the story.

This is what I do.
- I say how I feel or what I appreciate
- I provide safety to the other person so that they can express themselves honestly without repercussion
- I end with a gentle invitation of what I want.

The reason it’s been effective when other messages aren’t is because I’m signaling that i can handle the honest answer even if it isn’t the one I want.

Does it still hurt if they don’t like me back? Yes. Is this format always effective? No. But I’d rather try and possibly get an answer I don’t like, than not try at all.

Late diagnosed ADHD and autistic adults often carry lies that aren’t true, yet continue to be repeated into adulthood. Those beliefs are not supported by evidence, but from trying to explain a mismatch between what we are holding and what others see in us.

Letting go of these lies isn’t about proving something new. It’s about questioning what was never true to begin with. So I ask you: what is the lie you are carrying that you need to let go?
