Exploring resonance of natural spaces. In sound therapy we use instruments that can resonate for a long duration and natural rock structures amplify the effects of such instruments.

This summer has been a gift of slowing down and I’ve had the time to connect to so many wonder-full spaces immersed in nature from volcanoes, ocean, and mountain rivers. I’ve been circled right back around to a place close to my home. Maybe I can bring some of you here for sound meditation and sound medicine.

The More Than Human World, the upcoming album project has been a journey with friends, helping to manifest this vision.
Excited to share danzdance art design for the album cover soon.
Creating music as an art has been a compilation of interactions with the living world of plants, rivers, trees, and their voices come through in the music I record.

Thank you to Raul Seca Jr. πŸŽ₯ πŸ“Έ

This summer committed to making space to create music. Especially since I’ve been working on recording an upcoming album.

We can still make music with fruits even after being picked from the tree because they remain biologically alive for some time.

The papaya sounds different here than when I played it on the tree ( refer to previous video). Even though I am using the same instrument for it to play, this papaya activates different frequencies than when on the tree. Perhaps the tree itself was activating the low frequencies we heard before.

Music for upcoming album β€œThe More Than Human World” πŸƒπŸŒ³πŸ„πŸͺ΄πŸ„β€πŸŸ«
This project poses the question:
How do we connect and model after natural systems?

We can Reorient past human made systems and connect to the living systems of plants and forests that model collectivism, mutual support, interspecies communication, and nonhuman time frames.

This is being recorded with plant music of my Pothos plant, harp with pedal effects, voice and synth.

Papaya Music 🌴 You are hearing fluctuations in electric flow of this papaya tree. I designed a synth instrument for it to play and mostly the low notes are sounding. πŸ€”

Thank you Lynn Dr. Lynn Chang for inviting to visit you on this beautiful land.

It’s not just that a sound itself is healing but in the act of listening deeply we traverse into an intentional slower rhythm. Sound is a doorway to deep rest and listening is the pathway through.

I’m recording with plant music as a reminder that nature models slowness for us in many ways. And we can see that there is a relationship between music and nature🌳πŸͺ΄
